First time out catching sharks. Caught a ton of blue sharks 8' - 10' long. Had a couple mako's show up but could not get into them. Buddy lost a large one...probably a thresher. It straightened out the snap after about a 30 minute fight in which the reel snapped out of the reel seat. Had to secure it back down with several tie wraps which also ended up snapping off from the pressure

Sounds like a good trip.
How far out were you guys?
How many buckets of chum before they started to come around?
Were you using bluefish for bait?

The first bucket of chum was small and we got a few on balloons. On the 2nd bucket they were swarming us for as long as we wanted to be there. They were hitting everything. Bunker chunks, squid, bluefish. Once we dropped in the 2nd bucket of chum we did not need the balloons anymore. Just hooked on a piece of bait and they would take it almost immediately. Talk about screaming drag...

Nice trip would like to get into some blue dogs this year.
A great white was spotted off Cape May. It ate their chum bag.

Action like that fills you full of adrenaline. Lot to do with bait and water temperature.

That has to be a great primal feeling bring one of those toothy critters onboard. Thanks for sharing.
