Biting bluefish chase swimmers from Long Island beach

MONTAUK -- Call it Jaws light.
A school of aggressive bluefish turned on swimmers at a Long Island, beach yesterday, biting two before lifeguards evacuated the water.
One person was bitten on the foot. Another suffered a hand bite.
The incident happened at about 2:45 p.m. at Hither Hills State Park in Montauk.
Marine biologists say bluefish aren't man-eaters but will sometimes bite people by mistake while they are chasing bait fish near the shoreline.
They have sharp teeth and range considerably in size, from just a few inches long to more than 20 pounds.

It amazes me that people will watch a blitzing school while they are swimming, blissfully unaware of the teeth lurking below.
