I want to get some crabs, please help.

I wanted to go to bayville or some other place in the barnegat bay or raritan bay and crab from shore, In the past we used to use chicken backs and hand lines. Is the crabbing good yet, and do you guys have any tips other than that?
What is the minimum size? Thanks in advance.

I only have been crabbing from boat in Northern Barnegat Bay. Crabs have been very good. Chicken is the way to go. 41/2 inches from point to point.

Chicken is probably the most economical. Let it go bad a bit, the stink really brings them in. Crabbing is so good now that you can get a lot in a relatively short time. I had my granddaughter and grandson out on the weekend and we all caught a nice amount. Good luck.

Yes and don't bother with crab traps unless you will be in one spot all day. Hand lines are the way to go, my .02.
