Minimum.
Plug bag (artificials, teasers, leaders), rod/reel, maybe a small water.
Knife, pliers, hook cutter, bug stuff, camera, keys to jeep, tape, small rope, registration card.
Out walking and casting for 6-9 hours.

I go as light as possiable. 1 plugging stick, and Plug bag around the shoulder, and bucktails, metals, boga, and pliers around the wade belt.

When I Fly fish I just use fly rod, fly basket, and a pouch full of flies. everything on the belt except bucktails, and metals.

I usually take a lot in the vehicle but when I head out to the surf I will just load up my 1 surf bag with 8 tubes. Many of the areas I frequent require lengthy walks so having extra pockets in the surf bag are a must for leaders and terminal tackle, etc

I take the minimum with a plugging rod, a single row plug bag, and a surf belt with pliers, rind, tag line, and boga.

Less is better. After you do this for awhile you will learn the penalty of carrying too much gear. It restricts the places you can go to if on foot. And moving from place to place, you want to be able to get going quickly and follow the tide.
