Looking into getting a new setup for the surf. I will be throwing plugs, bucktails and metal, 1-3 oz. Fishing for fall bass and bluefish. Just wondering what you look for when getting new setups? Is castability the most important thing, or do you focus on getting the strongest rod and not losing the fish? thanks guys.

first thing I look for is the rating like 2-6 is ideal for slinging my big wood.
something for all 'round,I'd opt for like 3/4-3 oz or 1-4oz.
then length,8-9 foot is ideal for what I do normally,I can make due with it off the beach.

I just ordered a quantum Mocean,9 ft,1-4 oz,moderate action,MH power,marked down to half price[45 bucks] at cabelas.they still have some 10 footers as well.
take a look there, type in "mocean" in the search box, maybe you'll like what they have!

I'll see what it feels ike when it gets here,I hope I like it.

I just looked at the rod on Cabelas website. One of the reviews states the guy took the rod out of the tube and was checking the tip and it snapped right in his hand.
