rip, I have hooked up with them in rough water as well as calm. As far as hook ups, in my experiences, I have done better in calmer and clearer water. I prefer the calmer water because I can feel the fight of the Albie better than if the strong current and waves take over. While they can be a tremendously enjoyable play at the edge, they can also be a fussy and frustrating fish.
