It was an awesome privelege to see just some of the numbers of bikes out there today. Pebbles was driving as I was shooting pics and video. I'll try to post when I get a chance.

Anyone else who has info or news, feel free to post up.

Vietnam veteran, Bill Britt from Williamstown, is reflected on the the wall of names at the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial in Holmdel. Britt is one of the thousands of motorcycle riders who participated in the "Rolling Thunder Ride For Freedom," a charity event, held in order to bring attention to the plight of POW’s and MIA’s. My daughter and I came across the rally this morning. They start up at Warinanco park. It is pretty cool to see.

It's still possible that some folks are being held as prisoners overseas. The Communists are not very honorable, and treated US prisoners very badly during that time. Most of them would be dead by now, but the families are still looking for closure. Yesterday was a good time to show support for those who lost loved ones. Thanks for posting.

Motorcycle event seeks to raise awareness of those who didn't come home from wars

Bikers ride again for full accounting

HOLMDEL — It's wasn't the 3,000 motorcycles, the solemn ceremony at the memorial or the sight of burly bikers and veterans walking away, wiping tears that remained in the memory after Sunday's Rolling Thunder ride for freedom motorcycle run.

It was the man in the cage.

The bamboo cage that was sitting in the sun. The bamboo cage with no floor, that was so low that Gerald McCullar couldn't stand up inside. The cage that the man with the white beard sat in for over three hours to show people what prisoners of war in Vietnam went through.

"The tiger cage is what they used to hold POWs in; the actual one is smaller,"
McCullar said from between the bamboo bars. "We do this all over the country to call
attention to POWs and MIAs (missing in action) to bring them home and get legislation passed to bring them home."

McCullar, of Washington, Ill., served in the Army during the Vietnam War but was not a POW. During several speeches, the tiger cage containing McCullar sat on a table in front of the stage. In the sun.

"I like to think I give people something to take home," he said. "We want to see
that our children and our grandkids never have to go through this."

The 14th annual Rolling Thunder New Jersey ride for freedom reminded people of the plight of the POWs and MIAs with a giant, throaty internal combustioned voice that stretched for miles. It wound from Roselle Park through Rahway and Perth Amboy to the PNC Bank Arts Center on the Garden State Parkway where people stood, some with flags, on overpasses and on the side of the highway. At least one Shore area fire department suspended a giant American flag from a ladder truck.

"That was great," said Devon Richardson, Piscataway, who served in the Army 101st Airborne Division from 1980 to '84 and rode in the run. "It feels great that there are Americans cheering us on."

Richardson's brother served in the Navy, and his son returned from a tour of duty in
Iraq.

"I'm participating because I'm a veteran and this raises money for Vietnam era
veterans and those currently in combat," he said. "We do it to show our American
pride."

This was such a moving tribute and awesome thing to see. I had never seen this before but certainly plan on paying attention so I can see it again next year.
