First pic - looks a little crowded for the guy in front with them all casting over him. Not my style, unless I'm not seeing the angle they were casting at.

Second and third pics - you really captured it, beautiful pics.

Fourth pic - even though it's blurry, looking at it you can imagine being in the water, being that guy wetsuiting it, half immersed in the salt and loving every second of it. :dribble:

Great pics dude, look forward to more. :fishing:

:kooky:Not my style either, I like to fish in solitude. They're still some pretty awesome shots, though. I heard it was mostly bass and only a few blues, was that true for your group, sharkhart?

I got more yet, got in late last night with the pouring rain the southern and belt parkways were flooded

I was dissapointed to see a lot werent in focus from incomming waves messing up the auto focus.

I caught one slammer blue was the only blue i saw there.

Crowded of course, but the unwillingness to work together is the dissapointing part. A disaster of a guy to my right was letting his fish run and all they do is pick up lines, he must have been involved in 6 tangles. The directional casting is an issue, a guy 40 yards to my right casted over my straight away and hooked up, all i could was let him reel his fish but then he left just dropped my bucktail in the shallow rocks full of Grass, instant snag, I had to cut off all that line i didnt disrupt the three guys between us. Most of the guys arent so much rude just dumb and excitable.

I also saw 2 different guys using bunker snags, one time was at the peak easiest bite, someone was yelling at the guy i said dude ill give you a bucktail all you got to do is throw it out there and youll catch, wouldnt you know 2 mins later he caught a 30" and was estatic

Saw some jean clad guys get popped for poaching too

All the negatives go away when you not only see but HEAR a thousand bass swim right by you

ill post more after work

I think I will have to save up and go next year. Maybe get some of my buds from here to all go along together. Could some of you guys give up some travel information. Lodging and tackle shops. Stuff like that. Thanks for any info.

You can do it many ways, Rip. :fishing: If yer on a budget, here's what I usually do:

1. Get a night fishing pass, you can get em at the Montauk Downs County golf course, $55 for non-residents. You still have to pay in the lot at the point if you enter there before 4:30pm, so one way to do it is to leave your car there once you're in. Get all your supplies before you get there. Take showers at Hither Hills, or do a Bowery shower with soap :plastered:in the bathroom at the Point. Sleep in your car at the lower lot like a hobo. (Or nomad) :d At the back of the lot you'll usually find a group of Jersey guys camping.

2. Paulie's Tackle - if it's going on in Montauk, he knows about it, and ya might just run into Jack Yee, Willy Young, or some of the other sharpies there.

Rip316, bring lots of bucktails and pork rind, and curly tails, I like chartreuse or white about 8". If you think you packed enough, throw in a few more for good measure. As Sharkhart said, there are a lot of crazy conditions that will cause you to lose bucktails there. Many times it will be the fault of others but that comes with going to M. Right now it's the most publicized location in the surf fishing world, so unless you're fishing in the middle of the night expect company.
Size - bring between 1-3oz. Most of the time I use 1-2 oz depending on the conditions, so make sure most of the ones you bring are in that range. Good luck and don't wait too long.
Nice pics, SH.

Call me crazy but I would rather have a cheap hotel room somewhere. Or maybe you guys use the stinking smell as a strategy to have others keep their distance from you on the beach.:)

Secrets to quiet uninteruppted fishing:d
1. Fish at night.
2. Make sure you have a little stink around you, unwashed pits, eating greasy fast foods for some good gas, anything that will make a little space between you and the next guy. Especially useful at M.

Great pics SH, it's been a fantastic run so far.

Ohhh i fished at night too but the bigger fish would only come in real briefly at 50% dark for a quick bite, that deep south is hard to fish at night and they werent hanging long in those boulder field shallows

So i either matured as an artist or became stupid as a fisherman, because when they came in the thickest i went for the high grounds to take ones like this, everyone was runnng down and I was going up who is the dummy

The worst feeling is stopping fishing to take the action shots, but if you didn't have the discipline to do it they wouldn't get taken. I find it hard to stop if the action is that great. You're a better man than I. :don't know why:Nice job.

Another one Oct 14 2006 by Montauk Pete. Solid fall fishing for blues.
