I have off from work today and wondered how much snow you folks have out there where you live. We got 24". It took me 3 hours to finish all the shoveling. I'll try to take some pics today. If anyone else has some, lets see them!:plastered:

Man, this is freaking crazy. I thought we got a lot of snow last year. I cleaned snow twice last night. The first time was like 5 inches deep. The second time there was like a foot. Then I get up this morning, and oh man. I am cleaning the walk way and the snow is up to my knees. The cars on the street are barely visible. There are a couple small hondas and nissans that look like just a pile of snow. The firehydrant was fully covered over. All you could see is the nut for the valve on top. I don't have a snow blower, so it will be a bit at a time to clean it up. I hate driveways lol.

Better yet, once I think i am all done, the snow plow will come through again and make more of a mess for me to clean. So my brothers, this is going to be an all day affair. Can't wait for the warmer weather in the next couple days to melt some of this crap away. Wind is supposed to lie down by tomorrow night. Post some of your stories.:banghead2::banghead2::banghead2:

22", Occo. Stories? Well I had to go the wawa last night to get some milk. On the way there I saw this car spin out and go into a freaky series of manuevers as it got momentum. It was like the guy driving it never drove in snow before. People need to know if going into a spin turn your wheels the opposite way. This guy finally stopped within 2 inches from a telephone pole. There was a ditch next to the pole, he luckily missed that too. He was a little shaken up. He was driving one of those little 2 seater commuter cars. If he would have hit that pole at any kind of speed he would have been dead. You will never catch me in one of those cars. I got out and helped rock his car back and forth until he could get back on track Sent him on his way with a little lecture about maybe not driving a car that small in a heavy storm again. At least he was allright, and I only got a little wet in getting him out. Lucky guy.

Nice pics and stories so far, guys.
I know some of ya's got some more, don't be shy. :d

Rip plugger reported they got 16" a little inland from the S shore of Ct.

As for stories, I'll post an unusual one in the next few days. Happened to me tonight. All I got finished so far is the title line....

"Darkskies -
Good Samaritan? ....or Doofus Dork??" :don't know why:
The story's a little too fresh in my mind to post it now. I'll simmer down a bit and compose my thoughts, until then...:moon: Effumall!

We only had five or so inches, but that's pretty unusual down here. Heck, any snow at all is unusual where I'm at. Power was out most of the day. Thank God for the wood stove!

I have AWD, and had no problems maneuvering through the snow in different areas until I got stuck helping that girl in the BMW out. I don't think I would buy another vehicle that didn't have AWD. I'm that impressed by it. You sacrifice a little in gas mileage, but the stability is a great feeling.

We got about 28" of snow. The pics below are where my car was completely buried in a snowdrift. Took a while to dig it out.

The kids made this snow igloo. It has 2 windows, those are the holes you are seeing. The lighting when I took the pic doesn't show the depth or the height. It is about 8' high and 20' around. It kept them busy all day.

awsome shot of Ocean Ave. a buddy of mine sent me some aerial photos of LBI yesterday (he's a pilot, lives a couple of doors from where i grew up in Surf City.) looks like the bay is frozen over.

Is it the square tan house in the middle of the pic, close to the main drag, or one to the left of that?
As always, awesome shot Jon. What a cool thing to be a pilot and being able to take pics like that whenever you're up there. It seems you have friends in both low and high places. ;)

The story of the Dark the Samaritan, or Dark the Doofus Dork?

Time to post up the "How I rescued a damsel in the snow and ended up looking like a fool" story...

I was coming home from work at the end of the day the first work day after that monster snowstorm. I was driving through Newark. Parts of it still looked like a war zone and weren't plowed.

As I was driving down one "cut-through" street used by a lot of people avoiding the traffic on the main drags, I came to a traffic jam.

A girl in a late-model BMW was stuck sideways trying to get into the track in the middle of the street. The BMW has absolutely no traction and she was getting nowhere fast.

Since the girl was smoking hot, about a "9", I figured some guys would gallantly jump to her rescue, so I decided to stifle my normal helpful persona and let someone else take charge for once.

3 Spanish guys got out of a white construction van (NC plates) and proceeded to rock her car back and forth. They got nowhere. After about 2 minutes watching this, I decided it was up to me to save the day. ;)

I have awd in my car and wouldn't trade it for the world. I hadn't yet got stuck in the snow.

I went into the parking lot adjacent to her car, told the 3 guys helping her to still push but stay away from my car in case I mis-calculated. Then I told the girl I was going to push her down the street. I specifically told her not to slam on her brakes after we maneuvered. I wanted to get her in the right position and on her way for good. I also said if she slammed on her brakes, I might hit her from behind with the momentum I had going and cause some damage.

She said she understood. http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/images/icons/icon3.png
I pushed her out and continued to give her a push into the clear track in the middle of the street. We became separated for 1 sec and she did what I told her not to, she slammed on her brakes.:scared:

I started moving toward a collision with her, and to avoid a crash swerved to the side, ending up in a snowbank. :bucktooth:

Everyone looked at me, got in their cars, and took off.
The hot girl waved to me as she drove away.
The Spanish guys looked at me sheepishly as I begged them for a little help... "no puede, senor" they said. :2flip:

Everyone else drove by with blinders on.
It became apparent to me they were only helping her because she was in the way of them driving down that road.
Since my aZZ didn't look nearly as good as hers, I soon realized I was out of luck and would have to dig myself out.

I felt like the biggest sucker in the world. :beatin: :embarassed:

For about 5 secs I seriously contemplated throwing a snow shovel I had at the white van. I was so aggravated I was ready to fight all 3 guys at once. What remaining maturity I have calmed me down, and I resorted to digging myself out.

40 minutes later, I was still digging. Almost out, I had dug a path back to the center of the street.

I don't pray a lot, but did ask God to help me in some way. 5 minutes later, 2 Spanish guys showed up and asked if I needed help.

Together with me rocking the car back and forth, and a push from them, I made it out and on my way.

I threw some $$ at them. They wouldn't accept it. One kid said he was a Christian and just likes helping people, I made them take it anyway, said thanks, and was finally on my way home.

You know dark, they say God works in mysterious ways.
I think you did the right thing to help her.
