I need a new guide on one of my poles. The top guide is cracked. Wondering how many of you have made this repair yourself. Is it worth it or better to bring it somewhere for repair? Cost vs. Time.

It's a quick repair if you are handy. Or, a lot of tackle shops will gladly do it for you for $10-15. Many focus on repairs this time of year as business is at a crawl. The key is to find one in your area that is open.

As finchaser said, if you are in the area he can replace it for you. He has been building rods for many years and knows what he is doing. He did one for me that was perfect and built the new rod i have now as well. All i have to say is "superb rod builder and repair secialist". Also very fair. The tip replacement is not expensive at all and well worth letting a pro do it. Most of the cost is the price of th etip depending what you have already or want to replace it with.

Hey thanks for the tips guys. I live in Mercer County so I just had it done by a guy I know. I appreciate hearing about finchaser building rods, though. I remember a thread where dark or someone else posted pics of a rod he built. I hear he does meticulous work.
