On midnight Feb 28 I will be near the warmest water I can find in the back, jigging small rubber minnows. Or on a bridge somewhere in S Jersey.

I say late March or early April was an extremely cold winter lots of snow run off yet to come down Hudson and Hackensack rivers. I doubt the water temp is going to rise close to 10 degrees in less than 2 weeks.

If the chain existed I'd have no problem. I just let friends who don't live near the water,know when fish are around so they don't waste a trip down. I hate cell phone fisherman.

I'll be out soon, but I think it's gonna suck the first 2 weeks of march. Water is too cold in the Raritan. Unless you want to travel to the southern parts of Jersey or warm water discharges, you will be sitting and waiting, not much to show for it. My .02.

what he said especially since most of the resident fish have been wiped out by all the heavy pressure put on them the last few years in the back bay

There is not much around now except a few dinks. A buddy was out last night and got 2 to 22", rubber. I'm sure someone will pull out a nucular keeper or 3 in the next week. More respect for someone getting a keeper at anyplace other than the pp, though. Warm water fishing is pretty easy. I give more credibility to someone who got one at a place other than that.
