Bluefin tuna meeting tonight. The National Marine Fisheries wants to reduce the general category and recreation quota. NMFS want to increase the Commercial Sword fish long line quota for tuna so they don't have to disguard tuna after they make there quota and of coarse:2flip: Obama and Lubchenco:2flip: are not against it. This could close down recreational tuna fishing real quick and we loose another fishery.:burn:

What about the millions of dollars recreational guys pump into the area's economy in pursuit of tuna? Have they considered that in their closure and quota calculations?

Dr L. doesn't care, the swordfish long liners disguarded 160 metric tons last year. They will keep more to off set that and it will come from the general cartegory and recs. By time the tuna hit NJ the season will be more than likely closed.
