Tickets and a warning in NJ for SW license?

Are the officials going around asking for proof of having a salt water license? If you don't, do they just give a warning or tickets?

I think finchaser said they can fine you big time. I didn't hear of anyone getting a ticket yet. I heard they are just asking to see the license. With the NOAA card, they used to just give you a warning if you didn't have it. When you went into Sandy Hook for night fishing they would sometimes ask if you had it at the gate. But so far I haven't been asked for my NJ card yet.
