No one was hurt when an older-model pleasure boat about 20 feet in length washed ashore on an ocean beach on Saturday morning after losing power.
The fiberglass-hulled, dual-console pleasure boat lost power in the ocean off Mantoloking and drifted east, toward the shore, before washing up about 100 yards south of the Lyman Street beach.

The owner of the boat, from Pennsylvania, was not hurt according to Jim Lougher of Ground Hog Construction, the company that was conducting the cleanup effort.
No environmental hazards were found, and no fuel spilled, as the boat bobbed in the breakers close to the beach before being hauled onto the sand by a backhoe. A number of surfers caught waves and anglers fished for striped bass as the salvage effort took place.

Lougher said police responded to the scene and transported the boat's owner, who was not identified, to a location where he could withdraw enough money to cover the salvage of the boat, which will total about $2,500.

The boat appeared to be ruined, Lougher said. Its engine could be seen to be ripped apart and the side of the hull bashed in by the force of the waves.

At least there was no oil or gas spilled on the beach. Glad the guy was ok

Of all the places to land that's not bad, he could have crashed into the sides of an inlet.
