Folks, just a reminder as we roll into the Memorial Day weekend that towns are serious in their enforcement of laws and ordinances out there. Many have adopted zero tolerance policies. There is no leeway once they start writing you a ticket.

Here's one example recently phoned in to me....

In the towns that have no parking restrictions on the streets, some fishermen ignore the signs and play Russian Roulette with the chances of getting a ticket.

Don't do it, you'll be sorry. http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/images/icons/icon9.png
The latest thing, is they put a sticker on your car. That means you're being towed. If ya do ignore the signs and come back to find that sticker, they will be in the process of towing your car, and you ain't getting it back until you pay all the associated fees including towing costs.

This happened to 2 people recently.

It will happen to you, unless you're lucky enough to be in possession of a PBA card given to you by a family member and can talk your way out of it. ;)

So don't do it, they ain't playing around in some of these shore towns.
These fines are a viable source of income for them.
Be smart. http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/images/icons/icon3.png

Have a great weekend, people!

Jigfreak, it's only going to get worse, and with the DEP doing an end-run around the Public Trust Doctrine, and people in NJ not standing up for their rights, I predict we will lose more access this year.

Not that we don't deserve it, sometimes I have to agree with the homeowners. http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/images/icons/icon8.png

I went to a "no-parking" street the other day to check out the water, and what did I see???

This IDIOT parking partly in front of a homeowners' driveway!
When he saw me taking pics of his work truck, he wanted to know why. I explained that it was
disrespectful to park like that and he should know better.

His reply: "Well I was just leaving"
That ain't the point, people.

We can't mess up like that anymore.
And we shouldn't tolerate people who do things like this. If you're angry over possibly losing access, speak up! Not just on the internet, but when you see it happening, at that moment.
I do this all the time, and am not worried about the repercussions. The way I look at it, when someone else does something stupid and selfishly doesn't respect property or people in those areas, they are helping to steal my access from me. http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/images/icons/icon9.png

I won't let that happen without saying something. IMO if more of us spoke up, when it was happening, instead of just ranting on the internet, these people would feel the collective dissaproval of all of us. That might not stop their behavior, but they would think twice if they thought they would be barked at, then and there. And that's what I do, and will continue to do. I ain't letting someone else's selfishness dictate me losing my access to the water...it's too important to me. http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/images/icons/icon3.png

Here's the pic of the guy and where he parked:

In case someone thinks they are unfairly targeting fishermen,

here's another pic of a car that got ticketed, and probably does not belong to a fisherman:

Good for them, if you are violating the parking ordinances you should be towed. There are a few parking places left, even on those restricted streets. Pay attention to the signs, folks. Not only for your wallet's sake, but to avoid aggravating the homeowners as well.

I do a lot of scouting before I find my desired spot. Has anyone heard if they will give a ticket even if you just stop for a minute to look?

They shouldn't if you park at the end, but if you can try to pay attention to where your car is and don't stray too far from it. And like Dark said, don't park in front of someones driveway, you will be asking for trouble and you should get towed. If I see a guy doing that I will throw a sinker at him!
