I am cooped up in the house until tomorrow and going crazy. I don't think we will get too much damage in Ct. How about you guys, do you have any Irene pictures or hurricane stories?

nothing much to see on long island yet I think Jersey is probably starting to get it now we are not suppose to get much other than wind and rain after midnight then the heavier stuff will be coming through tomorrow morning through the day and should be out of here by the late afternoon we'll see how that works out.

Sea Bright was closed unless you had to get back in, due to the sea wall being breached.

At this point the back Twin Rivers area was still ok, but this was 3 1/2 hours before high tide back there.

Talked to Speedy before he just came off the roof :kooky::d I think he casted a plug up there to test swim it:laugh::laugh:.

In the pic above you can see Speedy testing one of his new plugs. :plastered:
He's up on the roof of the house, in the middle of the pic, wearing his plug testing gear..... :HappyWave:
The bottom pic illustrates what the towns were doing to prevent their saltwater "lakes" from breeching. They had generators and pumps constantly running to immediately pump the excess water back to the ocean.

I took a ride around yesterday afternoon in S Jersey and didn't see much damage except for where the water had risen a bit high. Holgate got hammered, though, here is a view that was internet posted of the beach entrance.

Some great pics and videos there guys. Thanks for sharing. It looks like a lot of folks had the gumption to say FU to the hurricane. Good for you and glad not many died. In situations like this if we can't laugh we could end up losing everything so might as well grab a brew and hope for the best. Let's hope that was the worst one of the fall huricanes.

Further update on Holgate I found:
"Chunks of olden concrete, placed decades back, got deposited up high, where we drive the beach just after coming on. The Forsythe fencing with the informational material was lost. George seems to think the entrance can be fixed once some sand reforms nearby – offering a much needed source of material to push over the debris. Per visual inspection, Holgate once again bent but didn’t break."

Those pics are powerful, Monty. To think of all their stuff that got ruined. There were people without power for a week, and some didn't have water. Imagine running your daily life in your house, without water. That's gotta suck. http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/images/icons/icon9.png
Thanks for posting, I think it's hard for some of us to realize what these people are still going through. The pictures show it better than any words could.

Wow. It is amazing to think of what some folks went through, and with all the rains this week it will be even worse. It's like a death lottery, where you don't want to be the one who wins it. I saw about 10 trees between yesterday and today that were laying down on there sides.
