Fin got the call, he passed away last night.....http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/images/icons/icon9.png

So far, the thoughts are that the wake and funeral will be in Phila...
I'll post that info as it becomes available, or feel free to post it here if you see it before I do.
He was a good man, and one of the most generous plug builders out there.

In recent months, after his house caught fire, his deterioration was noticable.
Gene Amato from the Asbury Club and his wife did a fantastic job of looking after him, and should be commended for their compassion and patience.

The last I heard, he was in hospice care, and his condition had rapidly deteriorated. It was only a matter of time before God took him home.....

So while some may or may not have known him, I just wanted to share that I thought highly of him. He was generous in his life and at the shows, sometimes giving out his plugs to children of customers as a way to get them interested in fishing.....

He will be sorely missed, and certainly had a valuable place in the annals of NJ surfcasters and plug-builders.

RIP and deepest condolences to his family....

Here is an interview I did with him in 2010. I regret that I didn't get a chance to do a more in-depth one. I was supposed to, but then his house caught fire, and things deteriorated from there....

This is just one example of his generosity, where he let Ryan of Ryan's rigs, share a table with him at the Asbury show...

From what I understood, he got space at that table as his father is a member of the Asbury Park fishing club, and I think Billy McFadden graciously agreed to let him sit there, sharing the space. I'll try to fill in the full details later.[/SIZE]

I bought 4 plugs from him at that show in 2010 dark, and he threw in one for free for my son. He seemed to be a great guy, very generous. RIP

He was a true nice guy, one of the last of the old guard. I don't think anyone could say a bad thing about him. Billy, you will be missed, and as finchaser said may you always have calm seas.

I met 2 guys on the beach Thur from Hillsborough, NJ, Al and Bob. Both veteran surfcasters, they were at the beach for a day of fishing and meeting some friends.

As they saw me come off the bar and asked how deep the water in the troth was..;) we got to talking about fishing...

and somehow the conversation got around to old timers, and Billy McFadden...Bob had a nice story to share about fishing for shad with Billy 20 years ago, in the Spring shad run in the Delaware.

Nice to meet ya, Bob and Al, and thanks for sharing....:HappyWave:
