Still fixing bugs this week In the Forums...

The site is running. I am trying to speed things up a bit and haven't had great success. We have a glitch this week where you won't be able to click on "New Posts" as it will just indicate Database/Server error.

I have the techs working on it right now...
For all the resources this site has drained from my family, personal life, and fishing,...I sometimes feel I could have made more $$ washing dishes in a restaurant....

hundreds of hours behind the scenes when something goes wrong and it has to be addressed immediately...the phone calls, waiting and waiting,. the sxpammers trying to sell Viagra and cheap phones,....it really does get to be a grind sometimes....

5. The "new posts" feature of the site is still down...it must be frustrating as hell for you folks because I'm sick of it...have been on the phone with network solutions 4 times this week alone,,,,and other than the profuse apologies from them, I haven't seen any results yet....:2flip:

6. Do NOT use Network Solutions if you are considering a service provider, unless you like developing hundreds of white hairs overnight...:burn:

7. Because of that, I've given up on fixing the site right away and have tried to deal with it by fishing.

8. Finchaser and the shadowy figures he represents may be buying the site....I was told they represent FFISH -

I've migrated a half a dozen prior Network Solutions customers to new servers.

They really do suck - and charge ten times what anybody else does.

There are a lot of new features with this software...
Some of them will make it a lot easier to navigate....
Others may aggravate and vex ya's....

I'm not able to find the time to post about the abundant new features....I have noticed that Auto-Save is one of them, Monty,....it's the yellow letters that fade in and out on the bottom right corner when ya post, but not sure exactly all it does yet...I've lost a lot of posts when this site suddenly timed out in the past, and the auto-save might be an assist to prevent that.....as with some of the other cool features...


And if ya want to post a tutorial for anything ya learn about these features, Monty, I will be glad to send ya a plug or 2....

Differences....

As mentioned, there are fish all over right now to 25#, so after work and family, that's where my free time is going,...and a few sessions meeting new folks at the shows.....




Posting Smileys
1. Already I like part of it in that a big window opens up quickly to allow you to choose and post.

2. However, with the old platform, you could automatically click on a smiley and it would post. Now if you want to do that, you have to open the smiley face icon on the top line of the menu bar and click.

3. You can also post the smilies that are on the bottom of your screen when posting...WITHOUT clicking on the icon box....you simply drag and drop them to the place in your post where you want them....

4. Or you can use the window to the right of your screen to see all the available smileys and choose from there....

Monty I love ya like a brother, I really do, but don't worry about the nuances too much...if it stops ya from fishing.,....your usual haunts have some fish migrating through them....and not at too much risk....call me for details...hope ya get a chance to get out there....you really deserve some fish after being cooped up for all that time...:fishing:

Well I guess I was the first to use it. I pressed the wrong button to post (goog move), then went to respond again and there was a button there to restore the auto save, worked great, I was happy.

Thanks for the kind words, Monty, but in the fast paced world of the internet, if you're slow, have trouble loading the site, have latency issues, or are down too much, people just grow impatient and stop visiting....and I understand that completely, being the impatient SOB that I am.... :scared:

This is how we live in modern times, folks want everything at their fingertips, in nanoseconds.
Most folks under 30 have grown up with the internet as their central library....and hence the folks who want to be striped bass sharpies by the 3rd month from when they start....

The truth about all our upgrades is that it usually blows up the site for a day or 2, as there are some specific files and code that need to be tweaked as well....


This time, Pebbles and I did it together...
We spent 6 hours on it last night, ran into some obstacles...

I went fishin, caught a bunch of fish...
And Pebbles continued to work on it throughout this morning....

We went to breakfast.
She came back home and continued working on the files....

I went to the Rahway Flea Mkt, met Madcaster some other good folks,,,

Took a nap in the car. went to Somerset...

The real Heroine behind the scenes was Pebbles....she knew I had to be at the places I was today, and pressed on with the tedious task of updating all the files....and there were many obstacles, as mentioned....but in the end, when it all came together,,,,,it was because of her patience, intelligence, and persistence.....

I have to give her 100% of the credit in this upgrade because I just could not be there....and she, folks, is a true gem of a girl, and the only woman I could ever truly be happy with for eternity.....

(and the only one who's able to put up with my hyper behavior and OCD perfectionism, so far....):heart:


So I really have to put it out there that this upgrade would never have happened so quickly without her assistance and patience to see it through..... and she is truly the Sunshine in My World.....in My Darkest Hours her Love, Support, and Sweet Smile can move mountains of Sadness.......

I hope all of ya's out there are able to find a true love and best friend as great as the one I have...

OK enough of the sugar sweet stuff,,,,just had to set the record straight as to how great this gal is......
