CLINTON TWP. - A fisherman snagged partial human remains while out on Round Valley Reservoir in Clinton Township over the weekend, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office reported Saturday, May 12.
An unidentified fisherman reportedly told law enforcement that his hooks snagged the partial remains while he was out on his boat at Round Valley. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the fisherman turned the remains in to officials when he returned to shore.
Hunterdon County Chief of Detectives John Kuczynski added Monday that the county’s Major Crimes Unit and the New Jersey State Police searched the area Saturday where the original discovery was made, but no other remains were found.
The area has been marked with GPS coordinates for any future searches, he said, but before that, “It’s going to take some time” to examine the remains to determine who they belonged to and why they were found in the reservoir.
“It’s early in the game,” said Kuczynski.
