I have been fishing Island Beach for the last few months. The bugs have gotten worse. At sunrise its ok but soon after they swarm you if there is a west wind. Does anyone else think they are the worst this year and what are you doing to deal with it? thanks

cover yourself in deet. Or get out of there before the winds start. Usually a smart move to get out of there soon after sun up.

Where I have fished (north of there mostly this year), it has not been that bad for me. Covered with Skin So Soft and always with long sleeves and covered legs. I remember changing a flat tire about 15 years ago on that road on Island Beach. The BUGS ALMOST KILLED ME. It was unreal.

^ Rumor has it that there are mosquitoes down there that winter at the power plant, science experiments gone wrong. Mosquitoes that weigh in at 1/2 lb each!:scared:

Ha ha that was funny bababooey! I have been bothered by them every time I am out there unless it is an east wind.

And don't bother fishing the hook with a west or southwest wind either. They will eat holes in you.:scared:

West wind (big west wind), Bay side.
