Catching small Snappers for Bait or fun

Mike wanted more info. I have taken my little cousins out for them and had a blast.
Hookset had some good advice too.

Mike what were you using? Small snapper poppers are good but you can also tip them with spearing, seems to work better.

I have also gotten them on a sabiki rig in the harbors and marinas. I am seeing a ton of the small ones this year. Any one else have preferred methods?

You can also use those tiny kastmasters. I have some that are about 1 1/2" long. Work great.

Yeah mike very small croks or cms will get them. what were you using?

Fishbites works too. I hate the small ones as they bite the tails off the gulp and are too small to be hooked most times.

remember guy's they are bluefish and carry a 15 fish per person limit I have seen the fish cops give citations at the inlet to guy's stocking up for bait
