Looks like it will be semi-strong westerly winds when they turn, really knock the surf down.
And somewhat cold for a few days.
Finally calm the surf down.

If you fish LI the south wind hits you in the face you have to try to find a place in back of an inlet somewhere to hide from it.

basshunter you would of loved the wind today it has turned into a northwest wind setting up nicely for the 2nd half of August. A few more nights like this and the bait will be bunched up in the usual back bay places.

Haha lol I don't know where they were but they weren't out in Cape May today. I went to the beach to try to fish. Took 5 casts with a ava47 only to have it blow sideways. That North wind was terrible. First time I can remember that I gave up in 5 minutes.

surferman it should be clearing up soon. Hard west wind will lay the surf down and make presentation easier. I fished today and it was like chocolate milk but the surf was laying down. Don't give up we don't have too much time left before the small fish get here.

God it's brutal. Took a ride to the bay today to check out some areas before opening season in 2 weeks. Wind from the North at 30+mph gusts. Good to get some walking in but not great to scout. Can you say choc milk?

I'd say the Northwest winds in October might have been bad, but March sucks as well. The days are sunny but those winds are brutal. I'm definitely waiting two weeks before I start fishing.
