Turkey Recipe and Happy Thanksgiving to all

I thought this sounded good! Here is a turkey recipe that also includes
the use of popcorn as a stuffing ingredient -- imagine that. When I found
this recipe, I thought it was perfect for people like me, who just are not
sure how to tell when turkey is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out. Give
this a try.


8 - 15 lb. turkey
1 cup melted butter
1 cup stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is Good)
1 cup un-popped popcorn (ORVILLE REDENBACHER'S LOW FAT IS BEST)
Salt/pepperto taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush turkey well with melted butter, salt,
and pepper.
Fill cavity with stuffing and popcorn. Place in baking pan making sure the
neck end is toward the front of the oven, not the back.

After about 4 hours listen for the popping sounds.

When the turkey's a-s blows the oven door open and the bird flies across
the room,.... it's done.

And, you thought I didn't cook...

Oh heavenly Father.......
On a day like today, Thanksgiving, when we give thanks for all we have, the safety and security we have by virtue of living in this great country of ours,
The freedom from military oppression and facist dictatorships, relative safety of many of our areas, and climate of opportunity that exists in the US like no other country......

Let us take a moment and give some somber thoughts to those who are less fortunate today, than they were 30 days ago....
Those who have lost everything, and are still trying to put their lives back together....

Those who are resolved to starting again, no matter how difficult......

And thanks to all the Volunteers who are helping them try to get their lives back......

And thanks to God....may He continue to watch over us all.......

I think sometimes we lose focus when we think of Thanksgiving....
I know I'm guilty of this as well.....

We think of turkey dinner...
Tryptophan coma.....
Multiple desserts....
2000 calorie meals...
College bowl games.....
Getting together with extended and far-flung family members.....sometimes good, sometimes with insane drama (depends on your family, I guess) :)
The chance to take a break from our normal hectic lives.....for just one day....
The chance to score deals the day after on Black Friday......




I mention the above, not to pass judgement on anyone...
because I have experienced and participated in all of the above, with a special helping of dysfunctional family behavior.......;)

The original idea of Thanksgiving....
Was all because a group of people, were unhappy with the tyranny they experienced in England.....
They came to America, bold uncharted land....to start new lives for themselves, free from the tyranny and oppression, the British Bullies.........

Please let's not lose sight of that....that we as Americans are one of the hardiest folks on Earth....and most resilient.....surviving attacks, oppression, bullying, and hardships, through our history......
And we always manage to bounce back.....
Because we are American....all races and creeds blended into one pot.......:thumbsup:



We would have not have made it through the Winter if it were not for our American Indian brothers and sisters....
The more we try to differentiate ourselves from others.....
The less we try to understand that we all have universal concerns and issues....


So let us be thankful, for what we have today, ignore what we don't have.....and remember that without good relationships, families, and health, life might not be worth living......
