best way to fish for bass when herring are around?

I was reading some of the posts about the herring. So far Ihavent seen any but it seems some of the people use plugs and others use rubber. What have you had more success with? thanks

during the day the regular Hopkins not the shorty I prefer the 2 ounce size.
At dusk and dawn I like a jig head with a 5 inch rip tide mullet in salt and pepper(my favorite) or a 5" tsunami pearl shad

I like the bombers that are clear and have the silver flash and blue color in them for day. I haven't used that rip tide at night finchaser. Thanks for that advice. I have some at home will have to use them the next time I'm out.
