The opening week of Trout in SE PA has been kinda poor, They threw more in Tuesday and they turned to popsicles, I never felt the water this cold against my legs, ever, The one good note was opening day score of these two beauties, all these years I previously only had one bigun, then my first two of 2013 were 19" twins. These stockies seem to bite best when sun is highest in the sky right now. My best success was around noon to 2.

The lake by my house won't be stocked this year . Sandy filled it with salt water. Killed the lake

Although I and many others call them Palaminos they are technically a Golden Rainbow, both Rainbows with an oh so light genetic difference, but somewhere along the line they found a way to breed these with the brighter color, the older models were slightly more flat or pale in color were the ones PA called the Palaminos, These are now the PA "trophies" I guess they put about 50-65 along a 10 mile strectch, some holes get zero, some maybe have 3 or 4, you can't miss them and they help you identify where other trout are laying. Much like i do in striper fishing when I see bass on top, i chucked the spinner right on their heads to it annoyed them, the one didn't hit until 930. They were both 19" and thick.

I don't know if all you folks here know this but SharkHart fishes obsessively for trout in the Spring every year. His interest goes beyond that of most anglers and he has even helped with the stocking programs. He's also writing more articles now. I hope he will write something about it and be able to share it with us here. Thanks for the report and congrats, Shark. :HappyWave:

Pretty work. Seems like the sweetwater is better than the salt right now.

My noraml route to work I nearly follow the entire 10 mile stretch of the stream i grew up fishing on, works out beautifully. Our company puts out the gallon jars of hand sanitizer, i can often be seen there applying huge gobs as i arrive in the office.

I got 12 or so more tonight, the water temps are rising with the sun, I can feel it to touch, slowly but surely.

You sure are lucky to live that close! Nice catch. How many times has the fishing been good and its made you late for work?

The best thing about opening day trout was my brother standing next to me not catching anything. ;)
