My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Bob Hahn.

You expect as folks get older, some of them will pass on.
Although I have been to a lot of funerals in my life, I never quite get used to the sadness.

There have been many "colorful" stories about the plugbuilders and fishing legends out there.
Some of them are not so flattering....it becomes apparent that some of the best fishermen, to achieve that goal, have to put fishing first, beyond everything else, if it is something that drives them.
I know all about those compulsions, and how far they can drive you.

It has also been said, that some of the most well-known, or legendary, often have quirks and personality traits, that cause others to not understand them at times.

We all have stories of one character or another, and the crazy things we do out there.
In all the years I have been fishing, I have never heard a negative story about Bob.
IMO he was a man's man, a true gentleman among other men.

His unselfishness and good deeds have been talked about, beyond the plugs that he made. He was so much more than that.
My heart goes out to his family and friends.
If anyone becomes aware of the funeral arrangements, please feel free to post them here.
Thank you. :(

Don't think there will be a service up here fellas. I read that his brother Lenny working at Capt Hippos in S Toms River will be bringing his ashes up here after a service in Fla. Then Lenny will be distributing them at sea. Thats a good tribute. Bob loved the water and was a pretty simple guy. RIP

I think he was known throughout the east coast. I remember him when I lived in Jersey. Didn't know he was sick. Thoughts and prayers

thats because he made plugs that were simple, no fancy eyes and scale patterns or pearl iridiscent paint. good old fashioned swimmers that caught fish. RIP Bob

Seems like Al Ristori knew him too-

"Bad news seems to come in bunches. Famed surfcaster Bob Hahn passed away in Florida last week. He was a regular on the beach when I started surfcasting in Point Pleasant, but I was just a bit late one fall morning at Bradshaw's and missed his release of a 50-pound striper he plugged at dawn. Hahn went on to become a noted wooden plugmaker. "

RIP Mr Hahn.
