Anglers can compete in a fluke contest on Saturday where all the competitors are fishing from shore and within sight. Alex's Inlet Tackle Shop in Point Pleasant Beach is sponsoring the winner-take-all 7 a.m. to noon event which has a $20 entry fee. The largest fluke will be determined by length, and must be caught from the Manasquan Inlet sea wall in front of the store or from the adjacent inlet rocks. No boat or beach fishing. The fee can be paid before the 7 a.m. start, or at any time prior to fishing. Fluke must be lifted or netted -- no gaffing. For details contact Alex's at 732 295-9268.
