Fees and Rates

Most New York State Parks charge a vehicle use fee to enter the facility. Fees vary by location and season. A list of entry fees and other park use fees is available below. For fees not listed or to verify information, please contact the park directly.
Your key to all season enjoyment of state parks is our season's pass. For $65, the Empire Passport (http://www.nysparks.com/admission/empire-passport/default.aspx) provides you unlimited day use vehicle entry into most of our parks. Apply on-line or call your favorite park for more information.

FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE BEACH VEHICLE FISHING PERMIT


Requirements:

Fee of $65.00, $110-Out of State
Driver’s License and Vehicle Registration Required
Permits are only sold January 1 - April 30 and the Tuesday after Labor Day -
December 31.
This permit allows access to designated beach areas listed below for the purpose of fishing
only.

Valid for:

Hither Hills (Year round)
Montauk Point (Year round)
Napeague (Year round)
Robert Moses (Democrat Point, Sore Thumb and Gilgo), valid from April 1 -
December 31, hours vary.


Sold at:

Any info from the west end guys feel free to post about permits/areas.I'm an eastie sore thumb/demo/Robert Moses to montauk.I figured if anyone wants to do the NY thing from out of state the info may be helpful.Of course you need to register on the nys dec website to fish here.

Monty and I were in contact yesterday about finding new places to fish. NJ as we know it will be very different this year. Less access, more crowded than ever, with every available spot being proudly revealed on certain internet forums and facebook groups.

Many of us will be on the road and fishing out of our home range to find fish......there are many areas that don't get all that much publicity.....let's try to expand our boundaries, and think about some alternatives. We are all going to have to think differently this year to find fish. :fishing:

South shore(ocean beaches)are pretty much sand beaches other then the inlets, north shore(L.I.sound) is mainly rocky shoreline with rocky structure.

monty dont mean to bust a hole in the balloon but surfstix nailed it. For me fishing LI was terrible last year. Montauk was a bust very little action there until late oct. Around that time there was a good bite at fi but only certain areas. You can drive up but you may be disappointed. The bounty of years ago has turned to hit or miss, run and gun. Nothing like it used to be. This is jmo. Maybe others will tell you different

I'm fine with catching not being good. Its getting to be that the "fishing" in jersey sucks. With all the beach replenishment here many of the areas I enjoy fishing are under sand or will be soon. I had a small rock pile that I have enjoyed fishing for the last 6 years. A real nice rip to its right side. Its buried.
Expanded the area I fish last year and fished a bunch of rock piles and had a lot of fun with shorts, small blues and fluke (July/August), fished 1:00 AM to 7:00 AM. Had a great time, solitude, nice weather. The rock piles are buried now.
So if the catching is bad I'm OK with it, just looking forward to learning a new area and not worry about our tax dollars being thrown away to absolutely destroy the fishing areas I like to frequent.

Thanks for posting that surfstix. You ever fish the north shore of LI? From the pic you posted it looks like that port jefferson is one of the closest places in middle LI to the other side. They must have some deep water harbors there. How is the fishing and is it accessible?

There are no fish in rhode island. No fish in li either. Just busting you guys, but remember the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

How is the fishing and is it accessible?I don't fish the Northshore accessibility is horrible unless you want to buy 100 permits there are spots though if you really want to seek them out.Port Jeff runs ferries over to CT. you can bring your vehicle for a fee.All the fishing I have done on the NS has been wreck fishing on boats.I'm done with paying for all the permits I use to buy, the fishing is on such a down hill slide that money can be spent on more useful things.I purchase my state and county permits and that gives me more then enough water to fish on the southshore.I don't do Montauk much anymore other then some diamond jigging on the boats and surfcasting from the sand beaches.Due to my injuries rock hopping is out.
