View Full Version : Shaping up for the Spring run what's your secret?

The thread with the cracks about the weight between dark and monty got me thinking since I'm kind of portly myself. How do you get in shape for spring fishing when you put on some winter TV weight. In my case it's rich food and tendency to over imbibe those high calorie liquers, curvosier, etc. Do you jog, diet, work out or some other activity to whip yourself back in shape?:pig:

I do a lot of walking and scouting early spring. That helps. It's not the fishing for me because this time of year I spend a lot of time standing around holding the rod and waiting for that hit.

I dropped 15 pounds last year and it made a big (huge) difference. Was much faster and never got winded. More agile, fell down fewer times than the last few years. I walk a lot while fishing, cover a lot of sand. Actually think I caught more fish because of being in better shape.
Trying to loose another 10 this year, need to drop another 5.
For me to loose weight, it was and is eating better and less food.
I go to the gym before work each day (been doing it for 30 years). More time on the elliptic machine when trying to loose weight. But the real difference is eating habits for me.
Chunky (Dark) is trying to drop 15 pounds, wondering how he is doing it.

Ive been hitting the gym 3-5days a week..started doing it 2 years ago and man does it help!! I work my shoulders,back,legs,arms,abs all of it and when im out there for long nights fishing i noticed a difference!! I have much more stamina and dont get sore from catsing,walking or climbing rocks all night!!Plus my wife is glad i have a six pack and im not talking about beers:d:laugh:.....Also real big help with my kayaking..dont get winded in a half hour on a long paddle!

All good ya freakin goog..:moon:..all the more reason for me to lose weight....as we get older, losing weight can help us live longer lives....
I think you addressed part of the biggest problem for some of us, eating less, better food, less junk, and portion control....
When a well-meaing friend sends ya home with a pizza, having the discipline to have it last for a few meals.....or just skip eating pizza regularly, and only eat things like that on special occasions. :HappyWave:

True dat. They say if you don't use it you lose it. Keep the exercise level up, cut down on the hohos and krsipy crems, and you will lose that winter weight.

Eating and drinkng like that will give you a heart attack especially since you said you were kind of portly. I think you are under-reporting your weight I bet you look like a harbor seal in waders. I also remember you like cigars you take all those and put them together your asking for trouble. The real reason you startedthis thread was to brag about your latest hookers on the side wasnt it? So come on lets hear it how do you lose weight.

Why is it you feel the need to attack me. Are you jealous because you can't live the lifestyle I do? The hater line forms to the left, please join it. As far as hookers go I never patronize hookers. They are all escorts and probably cost more than you make a week. If I share about them it's my business. If you don't like it you can always put me on ignore.
The thing I beleive is that sexual activity is probably as good as walking when it comes to caloric burning. Does anyone agree or disagree?:)

I walk a lot so I'm in pretty good shape. Other than that not much else.
