I love the look of this fly. I caught my first bluefish on a fly rod using something very similar.

Are you using black thread to make the dark colored heads like that?

That was tied with flat waxed black thread then coated with 4-5 coats of Sally Hanson hard as nails clear nail polish.
Allowing each coat to dry before applying another coat.
