Frozen moments in time to keep us interested when the cold winter winds are racing across the water. Crowds, big fish, hooked hands :D, put up what you got.

I got one for you voyager. This was in NJ in 2007. The funniest part is the Mom telling the little daughter "We're going to put them back, try to save as many as we can".
They are all going back into the jaws of hungry bluefish, out of the frying pan and into the fire.

There was some great action there in the morning of that day. 5 hours later the water was dead low, and the ocean was dead as well in that area. Yet you still had people camped out on the jetties, that's what stories and reports of 40# bass do...:kooky:

Bring your beach chair to the jetty and camp out, only in NJ. :d

5-22, here's a 27, caught by Bob

11867

11868

Here's a 41, caught by another Bob. :clapping: It's hard to tell the extreme size of the fish inside a cooler. Both coolers were different sizes. The 41 dwarfed the 27, and had about 3 or 4 bunker in it's belly, which was almost the size of a basketball. :wow:

There were not many memorable sustained daytime surf blitzes in NJ for the fall of 2010. Notice the use of the word "sustained" here. :fishing: Some may want to dispute that, that's your perogative. ;)

12787
12786
I got reports almost every day about what guys were catching and not catching.
12785
I did hear of some fantastic action where fish in the 20's were caught, daytime.
Fantastic action at night where one fish at 46# was landed on artificials among about 100 other keepers.
12784

And the great month-long action at IBSP and S of that where a lot of large fish were landed on bunker and snag and drop.
12783

12782

There have been some other good fishing times in between, but if I compare them to what was happening just 5 short years ago in the fall surf, they pale by comparison. That makes me real sad. http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/images/icons/icon9.png

Of course, that's just my opinion.
Others may feel differently. That's what makes this such a great country to live in, our right to have different opinions. :)

If anyone has proof of any epic daytime sustained blitzes in NJ or any other pics you feel like posting up, then lets see what ya got. Any size or fish, even a gator bluefish would be nice to look at. I really missed my gator fix this year.

It's gonna be a long cold winter, or maybe not. :fishing:

Happy Holidays to all! :HappyWave:

I'm a little late on posting these.

Some of them I purposely delayed the posting so as not to add to the hype.

As a result, I lost some of the notes I took on peoples' names and the weights of the fish.http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/images/icons/icon11.png

The weights listed here are approximate. If I screwed anyones' name up, feel free to contact me and I'll correct it, thanks.... :fishing:

There were 2 pretty big bodies of fish and birds yesterday in Monmouth county.

Separate locations.

This is one of them, about a mile long with birds, bait and bass. They were too far out of reach of surfcasters in the morning, but kayak guys got em. These pics are grainy because of the distance, and don't really show the extent of the birds...I shot some video which I'll put up in the kayak section when I get a chance.....just posting these here to document that blitz action this late in the year...

DarkSkies
12-19-2011, 11:54 AM
Here's the blitz video, only had time to shoot a few minutes. Danny's youtube video shows it better as he was in the midst of it all...

He's the yakker to the left.

Enjoy....

http://vimeo.com/33914584

Danny's vid of that day's action.... he got around 50 bass that day, truly incredible fishing window...even from a kayak, those numbers are outstanding....WTG, Danny V!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MG9WppfimE0&feature=youtu.be

**Reality Check...Just wanted to make it clear that even though this fishing looks outstanding, these fish are now not close inshore like they were. Anyone who continues to hype up the "big waves of fish coming from the North" for the benefit of the surf guys, clearly doesn't have a lot of years in the surf under his belt, or doesn't know what they're talking about....

Many of those fish were on a big feed for the last 2 weeks before schooling up to winter over in the Hudson, as has been mentioned more than once by Finchaser and others here. Even in the last 5 days, the fish have become more scattered, and the average size has decreased...

The ones that will continue in the Southern migration will likely follow a path that is inshore, but closer to the 3 mile line than the surf line....There will be pockets of fish available, especially at the end of sunny days when wind and tides are favorable...However, with the exception of a few larger fish, these surf windows will get smaller and smaller, along with the size of the fish....

May bunker blitzes....

I had the date written down as 5-26-11
This is Shawn and some of the guys in his crew. JoesFishinProblem is on the far left, and I believe the guy on the right is the one who helped that lady release her 45lb bass at IBSP in Nov 2011.

Shawn got a 52 that day, reprinted with his permission....:HappyWave:
