ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK, N.J. (AP) ? The Coast Guard is searching for a missing swimmer off Island Beach State Park.
A 25-year-old man went missing while swimming off the park in Ocean County shortly before noon Friday.
Police say it was the man's first time attempting to swim in the ocean.
The man is white, with dark hair and was wearing red shorts.
A search is underway involving a 25-foot boat and a 47-foot boat from the Coast Guard station in Barnegat Light, a helicopter from the Coast Guard's Atlantic City air station, and numerous local responders.

I heard there are some pretty bad rip currents up there. Hope they did not get to this guy. Prayers that they find him safely.

BERKELEY A body was discovered by a fisherman in Island Beach State Park about a quarter-mile away from where a swimmer went missing Friday afternoon, state officials said.

The body was found floating by the fisherman at approximately 7:30 a.m., said Larry Ragonese, a spokesman for the state Department of Environmental Protection.

The fisherman promptly called 9-1-1, which brought the New Jersey State Park Police to the scene, Ragonese said. The Ocean County Medical Examiner was also called in and investigators are currently in the process of identifying the remains.

The swimmer who went missing around noon was identified late Friday as Nicholas Guilhote, a 25-year-old man from France. The man was reported to have never swam in the ocean before and he was lost in the waves in a section of the park without lifeguards, authorities said.

Officials said conditions in the area were relatively calm, with waves two to three feet.

After combing 17 square miles of water, the U.S. Coast Guard announced Friday night they were suspending the search.
