PETA has long been accused of stealing animals in neighborhoods around Norfolk, VA, and putting them to death. We now have definitive proof. A surveillance video shows a PETA van and employee walking up to someone's porch and taking their dog. That dog is now dead. A little girl is devastated. PETA has no comment:http://wavy.com/?/?/man-claims-peta-stole-killed-family-pet/ (http://wavy.com/2014/11/12/man-claims-peta-stole-killed-family-pet/)
Why does PETA round up and kill family companions? Why do they call for the round up and killing of community cats? Why do they support the killing of every pit bull in every shelter in America? Why do they fight shelter reform laws? Why do they tell shelters not to foster animals and not to work with rescue groups? Why do they defend abusive shelters? And why do they kill 95% of all animals they seek out?about 30,000 over the last 11 years?including healthy kittens and puppies?
Is it because Ingrid Newkirk is mentally ill? Is PETA a political death cult? How do they convince young animal lovers who arrive on their doorstep and turn them into unrepentant animal killers? At this time in history, we do not yet know the answers to these dark and disturbing questions. Yet even if we can merely speculate about the why and the how 2,000 animals die at the hands of PETA employees each and every year and why they steal family pets only to put them to death, ethics compel every animal lover to see beyond the fa?ade PETA has created to mask the ugly and sordid truth about what that organization really is. Because for all we do not know, this much is certain: PETA is letting loose upon the world individuals who not only maniacally believe that killing is a good thing and that the living want to die, but who are legally armed with lethal drugs which they have already proven?29,426 times in the last decade?that they are not adverse to using.

"Cerate checked his security camera and the video shows a van with “PETA” on the side back into his driveway. Two women got out of the van and one walked up his porch, took Maya, and put her in the back of the van. “I was angry. I understand they pick up my dog, if it was in a tree or another place, but this is in my house,” Cerate said."

Man this is lame. Don't understand it. How can they have a right to do that?

W-T-F? Is there any more details? Shouldn't the be liable or do they have a contract with the city to pick up strays.

I guess they are above the law or they pay them off they took the dog off of his porch I wouldn't consider that a stray.Damn lucky it wasn't mine they would be pulling a bullet out of their a$$.By the size of their headquarters somebody's got a good cash flow. But don't run a piping plover over they are protected.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ (PETA), known for its anti-fur campaigns, put down 1,792 stray cats and dogs at its shelter last year alone. PETA defends its work, saying euthanasia is sometimes the best option for animals.
The death rate per animal averages 5 per day. The 1,792 figure represents an 82 percent euthanasia rate of the total number of animals PETA brought to its Norfolk, Virginia shelter in 2013, according to an annual report by the Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF).
The numbers come from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS), which requires records (http://petakillsanimals.com/downloads/PetaKillsAnimals.pdf) be submitted yearly for review. Since 1998, 31,190 animals have died at the hands of PETA.
Despite protests from several animal rights groups, PETA defends its record, insisting the animals it puts down are sick or unadoptable.
In 2005, PETA workers were arrested in North Carolina after killing adoptable cats and dogs and disposing of the bodies in a supermarket trash dumpster. Court evidence showed the employees euthanized animals they described as “perfect” and “adorable.”
Defendants Adria Hinkle and Andrew Cook were cleared of animal cruelty charges in 2007, according to the AP.
Will Coggin, senior research analyst at CCF, decried PETA’s actions. “This delusional animal rights group is talking out of both sides of its mouth – on one side preaching animal rights, while on the other signing the death warrant of 82 percent of cats and dogs in its care. Labeling PETA as hypocritical would be the understatement of the year.”

I understand that sometimes you have to put animals to sleep. No one wants the older and sick ones. Why are they doing this to so many? Does anyone know?

I think they get off on it if they need to kill that many animals I also think somebody should be digging alot deeper on these matters all of these animals can't be that sick that they need to be put down.
