Awesome pic thanks for sharing. $10 million for one beach? Is that just for 2013 and 2014?
what about if they have to do it again where does the money come from?

I think it comes from the feds. Job security for the Army Corps of Engineers.

Found this on the net. I think it is the same stretch of beach. Looks like beach replenishment did not work for you guys up north. I see some good surf breaks but not much beach protection left.

and frankly, the sun chasers don't give a hoot about how logical or illogical replenishment is.
the members of the beach clubs just want "their sand" to be there when the "club" opens up next summer.
when they see no sand, they cry, write letters, get the local officials to politically bargain and "whoop, there it is" over and over again
using your tax $

I think this stretch of beach, including in front of the swim club, have both been done two times already in the past few years. All the sand washes out and flattens out what was once a good beach. When the beach starts to come back a little, they go and replenish it again !

they will be doing it for 10 years part of the $130 million replenishment program

Agreed, thanks for sharing gentlemen. When you think of what a large sum of $$ that 130 million is. And the fact that they will probably double that sum after the 10 year period is over. With $260 million they could have built rock walls, t-jetties, and scientifically engineered groins that would not only protect the property but also require little in terms of maintenance - ie bring in a tractor after the worst storms and maybe have to pluck a few rocks back out of the water. The beaches would be abbreviated and separated by the larger jetties but you would have very few rip currents and sand movement if done right.
I believe they have done this in Europe and were successful. It is a pipe dream to think that our US government would be that progressive though.

Yes they have been doing it this way for decades. It is a pity they won't consider that there are better alternatives.

That's for sure. The jetties in the sea girt and manasquan area are already coming back.
