Stripers Forever Cape Fear, NC conservation issues and tournament Jan 15, 2011
Sent in by Fin, thanks.
Stripers Forever members - The Cape Fear River Watch is undertaking the very important job of restoring the spawning striper population to the Cape Fear River in North Carolina. A series of low dams have prevented significant numbers of stripers from reaching their historic spawning areas on this once important striped bass spawning river. By using some modern hydrologic construction techniques stripers will be able to again access to these documented spawning areas and repopulate the river.
Stripers Forever applauds these efforts, and we are informing our members of an upcoming event to be held the weekend of Jan. 15. If you go to this LINK on the SF website you will find two posters that will fill you in on all of the activities including a catch and release striper fishing tournament to be held that Saturday.
If you love striped bass, and will find yourself anywhere near Wilmington, NC that weekend, why not make this event part of your trip?"
