Over 600 surfcasters from throughout the tri-state area are expected at the Huntington Hilton on the night of September 4, as The Fisherman Magazine hosts their Annual Surf Fishing Show and Seminar.

“This show grows larger every year, and this year is no exception,” said Fred Golofaro, the show’s producer and Senior Editor of The Fisherman. “More than 50 surf fishing related tackle manufacturers will be represented, along with the best tackle shops and tackle vendors from the Long Island, Metro area,” Golofaro added.

The first 500 attendees to walk through the door will receive a goody bag with free fishing product, while every attendee will get a chance to a raffle featuring great surf fishing related prizes from manufacturers like Lamiglas, St. Croix, Shimano, Okuma, Penn, Shakespeare, Daiwa, Van Staal, AquaSkinz, Tsunami and many others. One lucky attendee will also walk away with a new ZeeBaaS spinning reel worth over $900.

According to Golofaro, this year’s format features an impressive array of surf fishing experts, including “Crazy Alberto” Knie, underwater photographer Mike Laptew, and noted authors like Bill “Doc” Muller, Zeno Hromin, Angelo Peluso, and New Jersey’s DJ Muller. Other sufcasting notables include Bill Wetzel, Eric Ernst, Steve Petri, Ralph Votta, Don Musso and Jerry “Capt. Kayak” Collins.

The actual presentations will cover a wide array of topics, including everything from using lures like soft plastics, flies, tins, bucktails and plugs for striped bass, to the choice of live bait for big stripers. There will also be a unique underwater perspective, in addition to seminars on kayaking for surfcasters.

“If you're into surf fishing, or looking to join the ranks of the surf fishing fraternity, you won't want to miss this show,” Golofaro said, adding “it’s a great opportunity to stock up on your favorite lures and rigs, and any accessories you’ll need to get you through the fall action.”

Doors open on September 4 at 6:30 p.m. and the presentations get underway at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for children 16 and under, and can be purchased at the door. The Huntington Hilton is located on Route 110 in Huntington, NY a quarter mile south of Exit 49 South off the Long Island Expressway.
