One good thing about acrylics is that the blues can bite the heck out of them and the plug won't have much damage. I've used SS acrylics/plastic needles for years, finding them to work well in faster current or when you need more of a sinking than floating needle.
To add to Monty's comments, Madcaster..... I wondered how difficult it was to work with acrylic on a belt sander. Do you find it harder?

The blue is screaming mullet in a shorter version.
Those plugs look awsome. Did they start out as a Acrylic Rod? How did you drill the Thru wire channel? When I tried to drill thru acrylic it would melt, I know I must of drilled to fast or something like that. Great work:thumbsup::thumbsup:
