2-23-12 PM trip - fish on the feed before a NE....
There was a pending NE storm system forecast for the next day. I just had to be out there that night. No idea if I would catch fish or not, but I had to see for myself...
It was a tough night as there seemed to be little or no activity. Picked up 3 small fish on rubber at the first stop, then nothing for the next 2 hours. I was getting tired and cold. I thought about calling it a night and heading home to my girlfriend and a warm fire....
Surfwalker and I were talking about the compulsivity it takes to get fish at times when it seems it just ain't happening...you wonder if that next pod of fish is around the corner, or if you should just pack it in and go home....and when it's cold and nasty out there, that often is the best option....
Yet my compulsivity persisted..."Just one more stop," I told myself...this would be the 8th area I fished at in a 4 hour period, finding fish at only one of them...the odds were not good....but I pushed on anyway, one feet in front of the other. I was tired and really wanted to go home to the warm fire.....
Within 2 minutes I found fish....they hit the rubber with aggressiveness. The only thing that prevented exact hookups each time was the cloudiness of the water as the E/NE swells were getting bigger.
The action was great, an hour of solid activity, 5. bass to 26"....a fish or missed hit every 10 casts....
I would have stayed out there all night with the action at that level... but the E/NE swells were building, along with the wind. I left as the winds built to 20mph E, and it really was unfishable. This was truly a night where a tally of 20 bass was possible, only to have those hopes dashed by the frikkin NE!
I don't understand why folks on internet fishing forums drool over the NE patterns. as it kills the bite for a few days after (unless you are a fisherman who only fishes clams and doesn't see the world of other possibilities out there)
West Wind Ralph agrees too...

For the log and the new guys:
8 bass to 26", rubber.
Fish were not on top - mid level, you really had to work for each fish...
Wind - E/NE at first, not that great, 10mph, eventually shifting to straight E, 20mph, which made it unfishable.
Swell - there was a building swell out there, duration every 5 secs, very hard to fish.
Temp- Air - 40-35
Temp - Water - 44f and holding,

2-24-12 skunk report...
Looking for a repeat...
The action that night was so robust that I slept in my car, Got up and saw the next morning was unfishable.
Went to visit Finchaser, hung out with some old salts at Castaways B&T, and then on the way home, tried to fish it again..still unfishable. :skunk: (but I tried anyway)
