^ hooked on bass. That one above is funny, but sobering in light of the pics.
As for the roller coaster, they arrested a guy who climbed to the top of it last week to protest the treatment sandy homeowners were getting. Hey at least he tried to stand up for what he believed in.
SS boardwalk pics, before and after.

"Perfect moment each summer.....
On paper it doesn't make any sense......in our hearts we know it does..."
One of the things about video and images/pictures, but video particularly, is its ability to hit us in our hearts, to get into our psyches, to get us involved in caring for things that we may not have knowledge of.........
I found this to be a hard-hitting, but positive and hopeful, short documentary by Bill Donahue........
Very compelling, it's one of the few videos I've seen lately I watched every minute of......
Well done, Bill......:clapping:
Thanks for posting this, Fin...... :HappyWave:
great job they should do one like that on breezy point.
Wow that was awesome thanks for sharing finchaser.

It has been nearly four months since the storm commonly known as Hurricane Sandy hit New Jersey’s shoreline. And even though Sandy was not, in fact, a hurricane by the time it ripped into the Jersey Shore, the damage it caused was widespread and severe.
Some beaches and roads remain closed, and many residents will never recover their losses. I took a ride through some of the hardest hit areas last weekend with Walter LaCicero, the Mayor of Lavallette, who said time and time again, “There used to be a house there.” Here, some photos from our trip.

A house in Ortley Beach.

Houses in Lavallette. “Compared to some places, we made out pretty good,” says Mayor LaCicero, whose own house was minimally damaged.

A house in the water in Mantoloking. Photo taken from the Mantoloking Bridge. A major stretch of Route 35 near here was closed until February 1st.

These homes are on the beach in an area known as Camp Osborn in Brick. Multiple fires erupted here due to gas explosions. “It was like the Kuwait oil fields,” says the Mayor. “Fires everywhere.” The rippling in the siding of the brown house was caused by the heat of the fire.

Ocean Avenue in Belmar is still closed.

The sights in Manasquan are eerie. It’s virtually deserted, and some of the homes–like this one–are marked with an “X,” while others are marked with a slash. By the look of things, I’m guessing an X is worse.

Thousands of homes at the Jersey Shore will have to be lifted thanks to new federal regulations.

Don’t worry, the Jersey Shore house (yes, as in Snooki) is still standing in Seaside Heights.

The Beachcomber in Seaside Heights is operational. But there’s no draft beer, since the beer box is on the lower level. “It was the bar’s one main casualty,” explained the bartender.

This trash pile just outside of the Beachcomber was one of many I encountered on my trip.
Very moving. Videos show the damage a lot better.

mantoloking bridge 10/29. You can see pieces of houses floating by underneath,
It is amazing how far people have come back from that. Here is a positive message. Good luck to all the people who are still working on there homes.

A little remembrance of Sandy and what it did to some long time residents. Where were you when Sandy hit, one year ago? I hope we don't get so see something of that magnitude again.
Prayers for the folks still not back yet. The APP published the top photo galleries. Chilling reminders, may we never lose sight of how severe things got.

Don't want to be a debbie downer. This weekend is the anniversary of hurricane Sandy. I hope we never see a storm that bad again in my lifetime. Had heard there are still some folks not back in their houses yet. Some of these pics are grim reminders.
^^^^^ Yup some friends of mind are still trying to work things out with fema. Fema sucks!
Very sorry to hear that dude thoughts and prayers that they get back on track.
Fema and scum contractors both s*ck.
There are a lot of low-lifes running around and causing people much grief.
I believe only about a third of the folks impacted are back in their homes... that may not be entirely accurate, but I do know its a substantial
number of folks.
Sorry that's a bummer. I guess we tend to forget how bad it was. You go to the main areas of the shore and everything is nice and pretty again. We forget that those who live 2 miles away may still be waiting for permits to rebuild. It is not so nice and pretty once you get away from the brand new stores and houses on the boardwalks.
You said it. There are also people who tried to scam and said the houses were their main house when they were vacation houses. I heard of one guy, friend of a friend, who got 60k from them for rehab and he wasn't supposed to. They are coming after him and he has to pay it back. Actually I hope he gets jail time. People like that ruin it for others.
There are a lot of scam artist contractors too.
Thanks for mentioning the sandy survivors. They are true survivors. Anyone who didn't have to go through that is blessed.
Yes there are still folks not back in their houses, and living in hotels. My family was lucky enough to escape that, t&p.
There was a pretty informative article posted online yesterday. does any one remember these pics?

Yep for a while you had the new mantoloking inlet. Should have left it that way the bay would be cleaner today. jmo. These should remind people.
Another aftermath of Sandy, they finally tore down the Mad Hatter in Sea Bright. Sad to see that go I've been there many times partying. hope they get approval for it a better building.

A sobering reminder of that destruction. I remember trying to go down fishing near some of those houses and places in Seabright. It was terrible. That town really has come back, thanks for sharing.
Great thread. I have some friends who are still not back in there houses. Lets never forget the power of the sea.
