Still got ice?
Printable View
Fished a small ice tournament this Saturday on a private lake w/my brother. Ice was 3-6" depending on the area. Spots with more sun exposure were around 3" and the shaded areas were a good 6" or better. This rain and warm weather will destroy what little ice was left...
We had good fishing for about 10 minutes and then the action completely shut down (I believe too much pressure on a small lake). In the first few minutes we had this small bass which is the only fish I had time to take a picture of (wanted to get them weighed in and released asap).
We also got another small bass, and a bigger one that weighed in at 2.8lbs, three pickerel and one crappie.
Between the two of us we ended up in third place in 3 out of 4 categories. Now if only 3rd place had a prize! LOL
3rd Place bass
3rd Place pickeral
3rd Place other "crappie"
1st place bass was a beautiful 4.7lber and second was 3.0lbs.

Nice going. Respectable lmb for the wintertime.
Only 3rd place? Man with all the times you guys have been crushing them, I would expect you to dominate the competition! Nice going anyway
Good work congrats.
My that was a pleasant surprise to look at on a cold winter day. Be safe out there. Good job.
Good job fellas thanks for sharing.
What a great day to take advantage of what will probably be the last day of ice fishing in New Jersey this season.
Lots of quality bass and pickerel today and one crappie just to keep things interesting.
It was hard to limit it down to just 20 pictures.
I can get use to ice fishing in 60 degree weather!

Jumping jiminy! Where did you find ice thick enough with all this warm weather, the Adirondacks?
Seriously, nice job, men!
Nice John!! I had to take advantage of the nice weather also..Hit up some rocks outfront and had a great afternoon with the Lil schoolies...Managed 13 all were small 16-18..But had 1 pushing 20in. Gave a good fight on light tackle..White zoom paddle tail on 1/2 oz jig head..Great February afternoon lol...Happy to get my Feb bass that's always the 1 months of the year I strike out ..Spring is near!
The bigger 1 from yesterday!!..Felt great shaking off the winter cobwebs!!
Very nice^^^
Great job gents.
Nice reports really gets me going! Thanks for the share and congrats on the fish.
Awesome report. Seems like all of the fishermen are smiling except for the one in the Orange HH overalls. Is that J Barbosa? not trying to start trouble, just wondering:d
Btw nice job to everyone, hope you guys don't mind the ballbusting, I am just so jealous because work and family has been a bear lately.
Wifey has me locked down for the winter. My only enjoyment is fishing shows and living through you guys out there catching. Thank you so much for the reports.
Funny stuff. not trying to pile on either, did notice that the dude in orange looks a little bit like a poster on the post office wall. JB that's not you, right?
Great reports. x2 what fnm said, nice to see some fish caught in legal waters. The PP has been way too crowded this winter.
Thanks guys!!
I think JB is still upset about the 3 year old shark chum DS gave him LOL!!!
Gee who pis*ed in your cornflakes to make you so negative about boats? Boating is a multi billion dollar industry. Boating and fishing bring hundreds of millions of dollars into New Jersey's economy. There's nothing wrong with a day on the water and catching a few nice fish for grilling, from a boat. What's the beef dude? :plastered:
Nice job on the catching gentlemen. Personally I would never be fishing in this weather. You gents are hardcore. good job and thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing the fish pics, I really enjoy seeing the activity.
I'm pretty happy now. :d
I have always have been anti-boat and anti-boat fisherman.
Only good boat is at the bottom of the sea creating structure.
:HappyWave:
Better chance of me ice fishing than going on a boat (me on a boat would be hypocritical).
Yo how come all the negativity? my mama told me if you can't say something nice about someone or a group of people it's best not to say anything at all. Everyone has the right to fish. No matter how they do it it's just fishing.
Bucktails Barbosa? or
Big Bass Barbosa....
Partial kidding aside, thanks for posting the pics and reports this winter, was good to see some catching!!!
Looked like you had a great 2016 fishing, catching many ways and different species. Hope 2017 is as good or better for ya.
25 lbs IS a cow for most of the newbies. I had a good time one day last fall and caught a few in the 25 pound class. No big deal they were nice fish but I have seen bigger. 3 young guys came up to me
and said "man you are really catching the cows today!" Sad times - they don't remember when the big fish used to be everywhere, even within casting range.
+1, it's a whole different ballgame now a days. People weighing in 28 inch fish for fame and video glory. Nice job on the catches. Thanks for sharing.
+2:2flip:to internet and especially facebook chest pounders
+3 and a triple :2flip::2flip::2flip: to the Raritan Bay meat men who crush the stripers in the spring before they have been spawned out.
Lol. This boat and fishing stuff was funny. Maybe Monty was kidding, I think he's a good dude. Shouldn't we try to focus on the guys who really do the most damage? It's not all boaters, it's the meat-men. Anyone feel like making up a song about them to start the Spring Run with?
Hey Monty,
Can you catch these from the surf?
110", 101" and 96" today

Awesome JB...You are a true fish catching machine!! Only guy I know that goes from perch and bass on ice to 800lb bluefin 5 days later LOL great pics John..I'm ready to christen that new boat with you!!
I agree, fantastic pics thanks for the share. I do have to ask where you got those fish because I wasn't aware that anyone was catching big tuna that size in Jersey this time of year. Did you take a road trip to NC?
