I took these shots of a kayaker during a surf launch in MoCo. He had a bit of a rough time at first as the waves were breaking right on shore, but not bad once you got past them. He banged it out there at just the right moment and finally had a smooth launch. Someone said he might be known as Tom Sawyer. :HappyWave:
If you know this guy and he wants bigger pics to be sent to him, plse advise him I have the originals, around 189k size. I'll be glad to send them out. Hope he got into some fish, he was right in the middle of the birds.

That 2nd pic looks pretty intense.:scared:Maybe you guys can handle that but if I had a kayak I would only fish the back bays. God bless!

A friend took these in the Western Sound, LI last week. Sunrise on the water, beautiful. :HappyWave:

Awesome sunrise pic, dark. Wish I had a kayak.
Some pics of a yakker the other day....
He was in the ocean, it was a little rough. He was about 30' past the breakers....
I give the guy credit for being out there. :clapping:
The thing is, sometimes you're better off in the surf....
These fish were in a 20' line parallel to the last and first breakers.....and being in that yak, he couldn't hit them without dumping, so he got blanked.
So did the surfcasters who couldn't cast 200', it's a cruel world sometimes....:kooky:

Got some shots of a guy with paddle yak entering the surf yesterday. The video footage of the yaks and action was better and shows the action more clearly. I'll post that when I get a chance....
Waiting for the video dark. and BTW nice pics overall, that sunrise is beautiful.
Glad ya liked it Stripermania, that was sent to me by my friend Cheech.

Here's the blitz video, only had time to shoot a few minutes. Danny's video shows it better as he was in the midst of it all...he's the yakker to the left. The guy paddling on the R wasn't wearing his PFD, and didn't seem too concerned when Danny asked him why he didn't have it on....
please, folks, if you see someone out there like that, don't be afraid to chastize them and ask them why they aren't wearing one.. I was at the Nissequogue in LI this summer the day that Dad was out with his young son on the inflatable kayak, and drowned because he wasn't wearing a PFD, among other reasons.....
It's a terrible experience when you go through something like a death or drowning and wonder if things wouldn't have turned out differently if more attention was paid to safety. So, if such a conversation like that prevents just one death, it will have been worthwhile..
Enjoy....

Danny's vid of that day's action.... he got around 50 bass that day, truly incredible fishing window...even from a kayak, those numbers are outstanding....WTG, Danny V!

Great Video Rich! WOW. What a fantastic day they had....
Awesome videos guys!
Good reason to buy a kayak.
Shorelady and others, Danny is one of the nicest guys in the sport, and also one of the most obsessive fishermen. When the fish are there, he makes it his business to get out there. That being said, he was down 2 days after his last score Dec 13, and didn't launch because the fish were too far out and the conditions were a little questionable. Safety first, a good inspiration to others...
Danny got into them yesterday as well.
Some yakkers in OC did well also, again, out of reach of surfcasters...
That guy msgDan is like a fish catching machine. Great report, catch em up.
Awesome pics! Looks like a kayak is your best bet for getting alot of fish this time of year. That, or jumping on a boat. Congrats.

Eli got out again yesterday in JBay....video and report courtesy of Elias.....:HappyWave:
"Good fishing the last two days. All fish around 12-15 pounds with a few shorts around. No bigger fish yet, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Took a cool video hope you enjoy it ; ) "

Eli got out again this morning....He mentions it being a bit slow...I noticed that as well last night, feel that the S/SE pattern has curtailed the artificial bite for a bit. IMO guys fishing bait should have more consistent results for the next day or so. The fish that I managed seemed very reluctant to hit artificials and barely nudged the plug....another indicator of cold water fish behavior.....a few degree rise in water temps can change all that like a light switch.......
report and pic courtesy of Elias...:HappyWave:
"Snuck out quick this morning. Slack tide totally dead, but on the incoming I had one fish, dropped two others in the same size range. Great conditions but the fish weren't too hungry it seemed.

Kept my first fish of the season, swallowed that leadhead deep!"
That dude is a fishing machine! Here is a video he posted on bridge jigging.

MSG Danny was out yesterday, hit it hard, 5 hours for a few bass. Here's the report courtesy of DannyV. :HappyWave:
************
It looks like the fishing in RB may be winding down a bit, with the fish heading out front and north. This morning was a bit snotty with only a handfull of fish caught between a small group. The fish that are caught are still a nice size, when you can find them. Almost 5 hours on the water and the only action was in a 90 minute window.
Here is my friend Bob with his first kayak striper ever on his first trip in the salt water with the kayak.
