Re: NJ Fishing Reports for October 2012.....www.StripersandAnglers.com
Fished out front this morning 3:30-10:30. Ocean had calmed down and looked great. Water was pretty dirty. I worked a lot of beach, lots of walking and ended up with the skunk. Had a hit early on a 10" Hogy and missed (normal start for me). Found some small bait and a few small swirls but no hook ups, then around 7:00 found a big area with fish slamming through bait mostly 200-500 yards off the beach. There was activity as close as 30 yards (semi consistent), but most was out there. I hooked up in close (5 yards out)for 5 seconds on a PoJee, rod bent then nothing, had one other hit on a long cast, PoJee again. Had this in front of me for at least two hours and could not land a fish. Not sure what was out there, whatever I had on for that short period was not a snapper. Threw all sorts of metal at different retrieves Ava 007 green tail, Hopkins shorty, PoJee 1 1/2 and 3 oz, Deadly Richard, Kastmaster 3/4, 1 and 1 1/2 oz. , 3 oz crocodile spoon, 2 oz and 3 oz Crippled Herring...also threw a couple spooks and a 2 sizes of pencils (very small and 2 oz), small needle, and SP and DSM Minnows, a small white mullet metal lip, white bucktail (1/2 oz), chartreuse 10" Hogy..... white tube teasers, yellow feathered teasers, white feathered teasers, chartreuse feathered teasers..no teasers......4 foot of 30 lb fluorocarbon without clips (tied direct)......I was amazed I could not catch a fish......
Had a great time out there, except for the murky water, conditions were beautiful, was all alone, just me and lots of fish that I could not catch.....
Had a streak of 5 outings in a row with at least one Striper, going into this trip I was thinking today's conditions were the most favorable out of all of the last five days I have fished. Had a good idea where all that bait would be as well as other spots where I had a good shot at a fish. Was very confident when I hit the water, more than the other times. I sent Rip-Plugger an e-mail with my plan, how confident I was....also I included in the e-mail "I'm all set up for the skunk", Yup, and a huge one it was :skunk:.
Also there was a nice sunrise

Re: NJ Fishing Reports for November 2012....www.StripersAndAnglers.com......
Fished this morning 1:30-11:00 out front. Two skunks in a row for me now. Really enjoyed trying to catch fish this trip. The water at times was calm, other times had a nice chop. This was the first time I really was able to fish all the new structure (worked a good mile or two of the beach), was fun even without any action. Saw a few swirls 200-300+ yards from the beach. Water was stained big time. Great weather, wind was not an issue and only had one issue with the almost "frost bite hand" (10-15 minutes of "OUCH" and all was better....not catching fish=not very cold hands......), otherwise I was extremely comfortable. High tide did not seem very high, wading out to a sand bar was easy around high tide. Still a few pieces of wood out there (be careful). Was planning on going again tomorrow, but may be a day or two away as my shoulder is a bit fatigued from all the casting.....
Decent colorful sunrise:

Thanks.
I prefer fishing in the dark, so when the sun starts showing its a bit of a bummer. But being out there and seeing the great colors of the sky is pretty cool.
Happy being king of sunrise pics.....instead of dead things

I think you and stormin steve should have a dead thing contest for 2013. Fresh slate, loser has to wear a skate on his head as a party hat for an hour while fishing. :HappyWave:
Those pics are the bomb Monty, some of the most colorful I have seen on the net. thanks

Love it...in all fairness Monty can only fish one night a week, so he may not see as many dead things as the rest of ya's do.....I looked back at that thread, lots of interesting dead things....good work, guys.
I love taking pics and I can't even come close to Monty's sunrise pics....
For 2013, my wish for Monty is that you have more action and less time to take those pics (albeit awesome)..:clapping:.
I'm praying to King Neptune to send some of the meanest bluefish :viking:...... and stripers with shoulders, your way.....:HappyWave:
I was going over past reports...last year the month of March was heavy on bunker and clam catches,,,,but by the first week of April we were catching bass pretty regularly on artificials.....if you want to check the reports as well, you folks should get ready for April, and put some extra time aside....:fishing:
IMO the early bite on artificials gets an amped up kick when the river herring show up.....so get ready.....

OK, the contest is for posting dead things (not pics of Hawaiian sunsets) right?
Maybe like the pic of the dead thing must be within 20 feet of the water (ocean or bayside is good)?
Although the loser fishes with a horseshoe crab shell on his head, dead horseshoe crabs don't count.
You had a great 2012 dead thing finding season (until Dark tried to steel your thunder with his headless torso find (show off)).
I have found it difficult putting back to back great dead finding seasons together. I'm due for a good one :viking:.

Monty, I want you and Steve to be the guys in charge of finding dead things...:headbang:...I really do.. because I feel you two have a special talent for that. :ROFLMAOIf there was a trophy you would both have to get trophies or special plaques in that category. ;)
I can't help it if one of the rare times I was walking off Sandy Hook in the daylight I happened to spot that torso....
I wanted to ignore it but the stench and the uniqueness of it drew me towards it...:kooky:...That old timer happened to be walking by. He told me he and his friend saw it earlier in the week, and ignored it because they thought it might be a body and didn't want to get involved....That kind of pullled me in even more.....
Turns out he and I have become good friends since then. He and his friends are retired, fish every day, and we have shared some good intel from that friendship. I have benefitted by hearing some more old-timer stories. which I never tire of listening to.......:learn:
I am really sorry if it seems I stole anyone's thunder in that regard....I could not ignore the stench and the hairy black thing wrapped up in canvas...it was too much of a compelling draw...... :HappyWave:
Great pics, people. The winter is a tough time for me....Although I fish at night, I miss the beauty of sunrises and sunsets out in the salt....this is a good thread. Keep up the good work.

Except for finding the 20 or so dead stripers this year I can't find a single dead thing while fishing this year.
MAJOR SLUMP WITH DEAD THINGS.
Sun rises tough to find lately too for me. This is the last one...weeks ago.

Re: NJ Fishing Reports for November 2012....www.StripersAndAnglers.com......
There are a lot of dead things on beaches now because of all the traffic. After memorial day it will be even easier to spot dead stuff. Always enjoy the sunsets monty nice pic.

Great report JB, awesome that you got into the Blues again. I have used the Rasco split rings for years and never had an issue. Sometimes when I put them on there is a space between the spring action, possibility of them working themselves off the lure, but I have not had anything like that happen. Are you actually seeing them bend? I always thought they were more robust than the Roscos.
I fished ocean side this morning 1:00 to 8:30. One hit around 2:30 on a Sluggo, even with my cat like reflexes I missed it. Then nothing the rest of the outing. Could not even manage a fluke on a Bucktail/teaser rig. Beautiful night, great time on the water. Water was a bit dirty, but decent white water.
