Let's all take a moment to thank the brave men and women of all races who sacrificed their lives to keep our country and people safe.
I'm putting this in the main forum because it's THAT important.
What do you think of when you think of Memorial Day?
Barbeques, fires, cookouts, beach, women in bikinis, fishing, sun, fun.....
What is the real meaning of this Holiday?
What does it mean to you?
Sent in by Finchaser, thanks!
And a big 'Thank you!" to all soldiers who have ever served in the Armed Forces.:thumbsup:
Preparation for Memorial Day
Keep it moving, please, even if you’ve seen it before.
It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who protects our freedom of religion.
It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who protects our freedom of the press.
It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who protects our freedom of speech.
It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who protects our freedom to assemble.
It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who protects the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN, not the politician, Who protects the right to vote.
It is the VETERAN who salutes the Flag,
It is the VETERAN who serves under the Flag,
ETERNAL REST GRANT THEM O LORD, AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM.
I’d be EXTREMELY proud if this email reached as many as possible. We can be very proud of our young men and women in the service no matter where they serve.
God Bless them all!!!
Makes you proud to be an AMERICAN!!!!
Thanks to each and everyone of our soldiers and vets… without you the US wouldn’t be what it is today.
With memorial day coming up I wanted to say thanks to all the soldiers and let us not forget the sacrifices they made.
We salute you all.
Amen.
I can't stand those self righteous whiner punks who complain about the war. If you're whining, did you ever serve? the answer is proibably no. Also did anyone ever see the pic of Obama standing without saluting the flag? He's the President of our countyr and can't even salute the flag. He's a terrorist, a Muslim agent. Otherwise why wouldn't he salute?:2flip:
Thanks to all the soldiers.
I just read this, it was posted by Jross. I thought it was honest, compelling, and indicates how sometimes our problems are not as bad as we think.
I got a lump in my throat as I read it.
I don't know if anyone else will feel the same, but I thought I would pass it on, as originally posted by JRoss.
There is always someone out there who has a heavier load to bear....
Thanks to all Vets for all you have done for this country. :clapping:
man that sucks the marine go s out and gives 150% for the usa and takes 3bullets and this is what he gets . it makes you think this is the world we live in it is very sad !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yep it is Speedy, it ripped me up thinking about it. A lot of guys are not looking for credit, they just wanted to serve their country.
Sent in by Finchaser, thanks!
Let's get this circulating by July 4th
I HOPE THERE ISN'T ANYONE ON MY E-MAIL LIST THAT WON'T KEEP THIS GOING.
Happy 4th of
July!....
.....let' s get this started now,
So it will be out there on the fourth!!!!
I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE

WHICH IT STANDS,

INDIVISIBLE, WITH
LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!

To them, and their sacrifices we can celebrate the 4th of July

We must never forget who
Gets the credit for the freedoms we have, of which we should be
Eternally grateful..

I watched the flag
Pass by one day,
It fluttered in the breeze.
http://us.mg3.mail.yahoo.com/ya/down...Inbox&inline=1
A young Marine
Saluted it,
And then he stood at ease..
I looked at
Him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud,
With hair cut square
And eyes alert
He'd stand out in any crowd.
http://us.mg3.mail.yahoo.com/ya/down...Inbox&inline=1
I thought how many men
Like him
Had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign
Soil
How many mothers' tears?
http://us.mg3.mail.yahoo.com/ya/down...Inbox&inline=1
How many pilots' planes
Shot down?
How many died at sea
How many foxholes were soldiers'
Graves ?
No, freedom isn't free
I heard the sound of Taps
One night,
When everything was still,
I listened to the bugler
Play
And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times
That Taps had meant 'Amen,'
http://us.mg3.mail.yahoo.com/ya/down...Inbox&inline=1
When a flag had draped a
Coffin.
Of a brother or a friend.
http://us.mg3.mail.yahoo.com/ya/down...Inbox&inline=1http://us.mg3.mail.yahoo.com/ya/down...Inbox&inline=1
I thought of all the
Children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and
Husbands
With interrupted lives.
I
Thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea
http://us.mg3.mail.yahoo.com/ya/down...Inbox&inline=1
Of unmarked graves in
Arlington .
No, freedom isn't free.

Enjoy Your Freedom
&God Bless Our Troops
When
You receive this, please stop for a moment
And

Folks just a reminder that today is the 66th anniversary of the Normandy Beach Invasion. If you know a Vet today would be a good day to thank them.
Sometimes it is so easy to forget. Thanks for the reminder. Thanks to all the vets who keep us safe.
Thanks to all the Vets who fought on D-Day and in WWII. The forgotten heroes.:clapping::clapping::clapping:
Well first a short story I took my youngest son to our towns very small Memorial Day parade and there were very few people along the parade route probably 500 people in a city of 40,000 and most of them were elderly except for a few of us. Well every time a color guard would walk by I would take of my baseball cap and put my hand over my heart and explained to my son that it was a salute to show respect and I look around at many people too lazy to even stand up:(. So yes we are losing the sence of patriotism in the USA
Dogfish I want to share my feelings with you. When I enlisted in the Army and spent 6 years serving 4 in Berlin and 2 in Ft. Lewis WA. The only action I saw was terrorist attacks against our bases from Momar Kadafi and had a friend killed in a bombing. I didn't see conventional combat but I still signed up for the opportunity to serve. I believe that it is the right of every American to take the opportunity to protest and express their feelings about our policies. And when I signed up I swore to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America and in that document you are guarunteed the right to protest. Feel free to argue with what you disagree with but don't shut them up for they have that right guarunteed by the blood of hero's and to take it away makes the sacrifice meaningless.
And please don't keep quoting that one incident where Obama was standing in front of everyone else and not seeing them salute. It deminishes your entire statement. I don't appreciate everything that he's doing but he was legally elected and is the President. Remember when there was some respect in the U.S.A.
Just my .02
Armand
RI popper, I think there is a sense of apathy when it comes to patriotism in the US, I agree with you. There are some of us who do care, and do appreciate the sacrifices the vets like yourselves have made. Thank you for serving our country, and may God bless you.
Lots of people focused on the Holiday, BBQs, beaches, babes, trophy bass :fishing: etc. The real meaning behind the weekend and Memorial Day is to honor all those who have died in action.
Sent in by Surfstix, thanks.

It got to me, so I thought I would share it.
There are soldiers every day out there, who are dying to preserve the freedom we have. When ya get a chance, thank one of em, it only takes a minute....
1. Attend a parade (yeah I know they tend to be boring, I get that, but there are other ways...)
2. See a soldier or a vet out there? Thank them for their service!
3. Share a memory of someone in your family who was a vet with another family member, it'll make ya both feel good!
4. Call someone you know who's a vet, thank them for their service. :clapping:
(Although this day specifically honors the dead, there's no reason why you need to wait till veteran's day to thank someone for deciding to serve their country. These guys and gals cannot get enough of our thanks, and I don't think they will ever get tired of hearing the phrase "Thank you for your service!"
My Dad was a vet. He's been gone 3 years now, I still miss him.
5. Call someone you know who's a vet, and do a good deed for them, or help them with something they may have difficulty with. Last week, a friend of the family mentioned he wanted his garden dug for planting. He's 83 and still works every day at a job, yet he has time for a garden too....so I'm gonna surprise him and do it for him.
It's easy to find little things to do for these folks, just pay attention when they talk to ya! http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/...cons/icon3.png
A sincere thanks to all., living and dead, who've served in our Armed Forces. :clapping::clapping:
Where would we be without our military. Thanks all, and happy memorial day to everyone.
Touching story about that woman and her soldier. Thanks to all who are ever vigilant in protecting us.
Yup, thank you everyone.:clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping:
Pebbles and I went there yesterday. I screwed up on his age, he's 86, not 83. And still gets up at 5am to go to work every day. He was getting ready to dig his garden. Good thing we got there in time.,,,he doesn't know the meaning of the word "quit". After that Pebbles and I went out and got some vegetables for him, cause the stores close by to him had lame selections.
Help or thank a Vet today!
It feels good!
Kudos to the Vets! Freedom isn't free.:clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping:
that's a heartbreaking photo, Rich.

John Moore Getty Images "Memorial Day At Arlington" Mary McHugh mourns her slain fiance Sgt. James Regan at the Arlington National Cemetery May 27, 2006, Memorial Day weekend. Regan, a U.S. Army Ranger from Long Island, was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq in February, and this was the first time McHugh had visited the grave since the funeral. When he died, Regan was on his fourth combat deployment - twice in Afghanistan and twice in Iraq.
btw, as a Duke graduate, Sgt. Regan could have joined the Army as an officer, but decided to enlist instead. He didn't want to get stuck behind a desk.
Wow. I scanned this thread but didn't click on that link. That story and the pic really got to me. Thanks Dark for posting the story and Jonthepain for posting the pic. There isn't too much in life that affects me, but that picture did. It is heartbreaking. Thank you to Jimmy Regan, and all vets for their service and the sacrifices you made. Dark I thank you for your suggestions. There is a guy who lives on our block, he is in his 80's and no one ever visits him and his wife. I know he will be getting a visit from me today. We owe these guys a lot.:clapping::clapping:
Reminder again with some images. Thanks to all the soldiers.

Thanks for that voyager, and to the soldiers as well.
