I hit the Suffern show yesterday afternoon after the Berkeley show. Some people have e-mailed me looking for the videos. I'm still working on the downloads. Hopefully it'll be done by tomorrow.

    Suffern show, panning the exhibit.

For alll you people from Jersey, pay attention to the part from 0:25 on where we stalk Rich Swiss and DaveT by zooming in to the St Croix booth from 100' away.

The animal stuff and kids' attractions:

    The bass tank:

One of the families leaving the show told me about the owl exhbit. When I got in there I realized it was the "Talons birds of prey" exhibit Pebbles and I had seen at the Oaks Pa show. Very cool, those owls and raptors.

I also heard Brody the Bear

Bounty Hunter charter fishing and Shark diving cage

Met with Capt Eric and Capt Matt from the Bounty Hunter out of MA. They do charter trips. The cool thing that caught my eye was they got a shark cage and this year will be doing offshore dives where they put divers in the cage, throw out some chum, and try to get divers up close and personal with some big sharks.

Hope that cage is hi strength, Capt Eric!

Seriously, it sounds like a blast, at least something that might be an adrenalin rush. Nice meeting ya's, and good luck!

    Kids Catch, Janice W

I think she started this with her partner after someone related to them won $10k in a LI bluefish tournament.

    HRFA
    Hudson River Fishermans Association
Met Marvin, Frank, and Carl Hartmann from the HRFA.

They're fanatics about fishing the Hudson River. Some of them have been fishing it for over 50 years.

They also do a lot of good for kids and have some kids' tournaments every year.

    Check them out at:

    The Worm Bar
Interview with Lee (owner) and her friend Grace
The worm bar is owned by Lee. She's from the LI area, and only does area shows and mail order.
Anything and everything when it comes to worms and the most popular soft plastics. Also spinnerbaits, Tin squids, ledheads, and some of the most reasonably priced worms and plastics around.

One of the few area businesses that sells plastic worms by the lb.

    True World Tackle Bayonne, NJ
    Akira and Jason
This shop is a great early season spot to stop in and find out what's going on in the lower Hudson River. Akira also does charters in the NY Bight area.

Stop in and say Hi to Akira, Jason, or Mark, they'll hook you up!

They're going to have bloodworms very soon for the guys looking for them.

Susquehanna Fishing Mag and Anthracite outfitters...
Steve, Capt Daniel Hubbard, John Oast, Mike, and Hank "Fishtank" Hewitt.
These guys are a group of hardcore land, river, jet-boat, fly, surf, and kayak fishermen who love fishin the Susquehanna River area.

They have a breadth of experience among them and intense local knowledge gained only by years of putting in their time. If you're looking to learn more about fishing in that area, you should definitely check out these 2 groups.

    Tank's Teasers and Hank Hewitt.

Hank is a high energy kind of guy who's kinda hyper!

Although he lives in PA, he fishes all over. I kinda relate to how hyper he is because i'm like that too.

Hank started a company making and selling teasers last year. The difference about his teasers is he uses an offset hook designed to catch the fish in the lip and not tear the teaser up. This makes sense when big bluefish are around.

    Lady Reelers fishing club, LI

Grace from the Lady Reelers talks about how her club got started.

The demand for a club on LI where women anglers feel comfortable was so great that 200 women showed up at their first meeting in 1982. Of that 200, 160 signed up the first year. They not only fish the salt, but do fresh and fly fishing in different locations.

Rich Swiss and the St Croix booth

Ran into Rich Swiss, Dave T, and Dave C at the St Croix booth. Here Rich Swiss talks a little about the new St Croix models and early season fishing in Raritan Bay.

I said it at the show, I gotta say it again for emphasis...

Dave C, Swiss does such a great job for the company, don't ya think he deserves a raise after 15 years???

Dark, I got to tell you I went to that show and your video portrayal of it is right on. That show was amazing. It is great to have some footage to review for the things that I missed. Thanks.
