Changes in the herring and shad regulations. Some have been around for awhile, while others are just taking effect. There is concern of herring overfishing off the Atlantic Coast, as well as declines in some anadromous shad populations. I will try to keep you guys posted as updates become available.

Meanwhile, anyone else who has access to changes or proposed legislation for yor area is welcome to post.

Hudson River Changes and Modifications 2008

FYI - Update on Shad Fishing in the Hudson River The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has implemented new regulations limiting shad fishing in the mid-Hudson Valley (Hudson River). The new restrictions, effective immediately, bar recreational anglers from taking any shad out of the Hudson River, place new limits on the size, the nets allowed in commercial fishing and reduce the number of hours per week commercial fisherman may fish. The new regulations are designed to help the Hudson River American Shad population recover from its historic lows.
