I panned for gold in California once, most are very small grains. Chances of finding a nugget that big, just hanging out in the side of the lake, one in a billion. Either the kid's very lucky, or they were desperate to promote tourism for that town. I smell a rotten potato.

I'm happy for the kid, but that gold rock looks too good to be true. I second the opinion that the kid and his father got it somewhere else. Out in the open like that is like winning the powerball lottery.
