Fishing pole fight leads to stabbing


A fight over a fishing pole during the weekend in Davenport ended with one of the combatants stabbed.
Travis Nichols, 32, address unavailable, was allegedly stabbed by Charles Leeson, 52, address unavailable, after one apparently threw the other's fishing pole into the Mississippi River, according to the Davenport Police Department.
The attack happened at around 7:30 p.m. Sunday at 100 Beiderbecke Dr. on the riverfront near Centennial Park.
It was unclear which man's fishing pole was thrown into water by the other.
Mr. Nichols was taken to Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, where he was treated and released, according to the police and Genesis spokesman Craig Cooper.
Mr. Leeson was charged with willful injury with serious injury and being held on $10,000 bond at the Scott County Jail, authorities said.
His next court date is scheduled for Wednesday.
