NIAGARA, WISCONSIN -- The fish are biting, and officials in Niagara are hoping a new pier will bring in the fishermen.
A brand new 32-foot-long pier opened Monday in Niagara. The $75,000 pier was paid for with community donations and a $40,000 grant from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
The pier is handicapped-accessible and should benefit the entire community.
"It certainly increases the quality of life," says Niagara Mayor Joseph Stern. "It brings an opportunity for people to get out over the water, and observe the Niagara Bluff, and it'll give people the opportunity to fish and relax by nature."
Stern hopes to add signs and a monument to the area in the near future.
