Pittsburgh has netted the 2009 Forest L. Wood Cup Championship, a four-day bass fishing tournament that pays the winning angler $1 million.

At a news conference tomorrow morning at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Downtown, FLW Outdoors will announce that the world's richest fishing tournament will come to Pittsburgh on July 30 and 31, and Aug. 1 and 2, 2009.

The event is expected to draw 60,000 visitors and at least $35 million to the city, along with international television coverage.
The tournament, named for the founder of Ranger Boats, a leading fishing boat manufacturer, will be carried on the FOX network and is expected to be viewed by 80 million people in the United States and 350 million in Africa, Asia and Europe.

The total purse for the tournament is $2 million.
FLW Outdoors runs 230 bass, walleye, redfish, kingfish and striped bass tournaments a year, more than any other organization, with 90,000 anglers competing for more than $40 million in prizes.
