Two city residents fishing along the Grand River Thursday night were robbed at gunpoint near Elm and Townsend streets, according to Lansing police.

The 46-year-old man and 44-year-old woman were able to call 911 from a nearby home shortly after the 9:45 p.m incident happened, which led to an unsuccessful canine search, said Lt. Mike Yankowski.
The suspect - described by Yankowski as a skinny black man, between 5 foot 9 inches and 5 foot 11 inches tall, wearing a hood, and appearing to be 18- to 20-years-old - apparently fled on foot.
He reached the city's river trail and then continued toward Moores Park, Yankowski said.
The armed robber apparently stole less than $10 from the couple.
Those with information about this incident are asked to call Det. Connie Birdsley at (517) 483-4600.
